Windows 10: Accidentally converted active drive C: from basic to dynamic

I did this and now I can't shut off my PC because I fear it won't reboot. It is also slower. Is there a way to convert it back to basic without having to shut off my computer or reinstalling windows and all the software/data I have?

I can remove the hard drive, put it in an enclosure and access it from a different PC, but will that require me to reinstall windows all over again?

How to convert Windows drive from Dynamic to Basic?

Hi Etor. I'm Greg, an installation specialist and 9 year Windows MVP, here to help you.

You must have somehow set the hard drive to Dynamic which is meant to span a partition over several hard drives. This can happen if you try to create more than four Primary Partitions on an MBR format hard drive, and ignore the warning in Disk Mgmt that
it will convert to Dynamic.

You should also still be able to access the data while the drive is connected as a data drive and you're not trying to start Windows on it. Then you could copy the data off and wipe the drive to clear the Dynamic formatting.
