Windows 10: accidentally copied everything from HDD to SSD instead of transferring it

I have an HDD from 2006 in my PC and have used it for a very long time, recently I bought an SSD to replace my HDD and a friend helped me "transfer" everything from one to the other because dealing with this sort of thing makes me nervous about messing it up and losing everything. whenever he finished we decided to leave the HDD in the PC until I get a better hard drive, because I currently have 2TB worth of storage used on my PC already. But when I looked at how much free space I have now, I noticed that they both were almost completely full as shown in the screenshot. I want to wipe the HD

Upgraded Windows Transfer from HDD to SSD

Hi

My windows was upgraded from 8 to 10 on my laptop few years back. I was trying to get the HDD replaced with SSD. During the copy process, the technician said windows cannot be moved to SSD as it is an upgraded version from 8 to 10.

Kindly guide if there is a possibility to copy the windows to SSD ? If so, please suggest the steps.

 

Stuck on copying files from old HDD to new SSD

Hi,

So I was reinstalling windows on an ssd instead of previously having it on an hdd. I was following the steps to copy over files from my old hdd to my new ssd, format the hdd to a data drive, and then move the files back over to the hdd.(I can link the steps I was following, it was on this site as well).

Anyways, spent around an hour discovering all the files and then finally went to copying them. But, at 20% exactly it froze, I left it over night as well and still no progress. I tried pausing it now, to maybe do some type of refresh without starting it all over. But, instead its just stuck on pausing the copying now. Not sure what to do, dont really want to restart this long process, especially when it might just do it again.

 

Copying Windows 10 to new SSD from existing HDD while upgrading to SSD from HDD.

I'm thinking about updating my 2 years old laptop from HDD to SSD. Since my HDD is still in working condition, I plan to use it as an external HDD. I have a pre-installed Windows 10 Home on my laptop.
Is it possible for me to transfer it to the new SSD while upgrading? If then please tell me the steps to follow.
