  1. accidentally deleted dolby audio from add/remove programs

Hi, I am new here. I have encountered a very strange and depressing problem...

So while deleting some programs on add/remove programs on windows 10, I accidentally deleted two dolby audio programs. I don't know the exact names, it happened pretty fast. I just read "preparing to remove" and find myself unable to stop it. Worst is I haven't created any restore point.

I became extremely worried because I love dolby audio's sound a lot. So I decided to just make sure the dolby audio programs I deleted were truly deleted and just reinstall it again. But shockingly when I go to playback devices, the dolby audio tab is still there and I can still turn it on.

    My questions:

    1. I am using windows 10 64 bit. The dolby audio programs in the add/remove programs are already there when I first used my operating system. What exactly have I deleted?

    2. It seems nothing really bad happened. Why is that? I am so concerned because I feel I might have done something unknown to my sound drivers. Did I do something very wrong but is unknown to me right now?

    3. What should I do next? Should I try to get those back? But I really can't remember the exact names. I really didn't mean to delete them.

    Thanks for your help.

    :)

Dolby Audio x2 Windows api sdk - Keeps reinstalling itself on windows startup

    Things I've tried:

    • Uninstalling and removing any and every trace of Dolby from my folders
    • Updating the latest Drivers (and general updates from windows)

This is a brand new Lenovo pc, but for some reason I cannot remove Dolby or keep it from coming back again.

I checked for other tutorials on how people managed to remove unwanted programs that keep reinstalling themselves.

However, usually they appear on drivers, which you can manually uninstall. But Dolby audio doesn't really count as one?

Usually this is also related to some trojan or virus, but this Dolby came prepackaged with the pc.

My pc is a Lenovo. (i've also downloaded realtek for Lenovo specifically even reinstalled it just in case).

Some information as to why I want to remove Dolby.

Since Dolby is an Audio program, it interferes with my Realtek, messing up plenty of the Audio setup, such as lowering volumes and not being able to switch from headset to Stereo.

Since it prohibits me from having full controll, it really itches me the wrong way.

Any suggestions as to what I can do is much appreciated.

EDIT: I noticed I had some "Dolby" related files in my C:\Windows.old\Windows\WinSxS Folder

  3. Dolby Advanced Audio and Dolby Digital Plus Advanced Audio

I upgraded to Windows 10. On the Control Panel, both Dolby Advanced Audio and Dolby Digital Plus Advanced Audio are listed.

Neither one is listed in Device Manager. When I click on Dolby Advanced Audio, It says, "Unable to start the Dolby Audio Driver. Restart the computer or reinstall the driver". Clicking on Dolby Digital Plus Advanced Audio the app opens. Do I really need both?
Both are listed on Programs and Features.

Hi, open event viewer, and search for any of the 3 event id's shown at the bottom of the middle window:

That should let you find the names of the programs you uninstalled.

(I assume you uninstalled them, rather than 'deleting' something).

  5. Hi, Here's what I found:

Windows Installer removed the product. Product Name: Dolby Audio X2 Windows API SDK. Product Version: 0.6.3.44. Product Language: 1033. Manufacturer: Dolby Laboratories, Inc.. Removal success or error status: 0.

Windows Installer removed the product. Product Name: Dolby Audio X2 Windows APP. Product Version: 0.6.3.48. Product Language: 1033. Manufacturer: Dolby Laboratories, Inc.. Removal success or error status: 0.

So what are those? I can't find any information about them online. Are those important? Should I reinstall them?

There's plenty of info.. only you can decide their relevance to your PC/configuration.

For example, were they supplied with your PC originally- if so, you'd find them on your manufacturer's site.

As to tidying up your installation, if you think they were partially uninstalled, you can
    - download and reinstall
    - if then you don't want them try uninstalling using Revo uninstaller or Geek uninstaller (free).
