  1. Accidentally Duplicated Arial Font Family

I accidentally duplicated the arial font family like literally the bold, black etc. I did this because i wanted to convert my .ttf fonts to .otf and it worked but whenever i click on arial through fonts contol panel it shows two of the same file one otf and another ttf and whenever i edit in after effects i should type arial with 2 spaces to get the .otf ones. Now i decided to delete the .otf but i cant i just doesnt let me, how do i fix this ?

    :)

  2. Arial Narrow Bold font renders in Bold Italic

Thank you all to the helpful responses. I believe that I've fixed the problem on my own.

First, I deleted the entire Arial font family (except the protected ones).

    Next, I reinstalled Office 2013.

As expected, Office installed a fresh Arial font family. Turns out that I had two variants of Arial Narrow on backup from years ago. In other words, these two font files were outdated and redundant. (When I installed Office 2013 the first time, I must've
copied my entire fonts library over.)

But it has all been set right. Now when I set a font to Arial Narrow and click
B, it doesn't italicize. My Arial font family is bug-free now. I deleted Arial from my personal font collection as I know I'll only need it from the genuine software source (Windows, Office. etc.)

Thanks again! Accidentally Duplicated Arial Font Family :)

  3. Arial font (regular) disappeared

I have been having some issues with text displaying as italic, and I narrowed down the problem to the Arial font (which is also a default font for programs like R and Outlook). In trying to fix this, I went to Settings > Fonts > Arial, and discovered that
the Regular face appears normal and links to the normal spot (C:\WINDOWS\FONTS\ARIAL.TTF). I then went to Control Panel > Fonts > Font settings > Restore default font settings. This also did nothing.

Finally, I went to the actual file location (c:\windows\fonts) and I am missing the actual Arial font. I have Arial Black, Bold, Bold Italic, Italic, and all four faces of Arial Narrow. I am missing a plan old "Arial" font. This has cleared up the mystery
of why all my Arial text is italic (presumably the default has switched to Arial Italic), but I am left without a fix.

Is there an easy way to download just the Arial font file (or even re-download all the Arial family fonts)? I have failed to find a website that I trust to download a file from, and I cannot find some place on Microsoft's website for a secure download. I
am also unsure of when this exactly occurred (sometime in the last month or so), so I can't figure out what caused this to happen. I have found a file in Program Files > Microsoft Office > root > Document Themes 16 > Theme Fonts that is Arial.xml, but I can't
just copy/paste that into the windows\fonts and the settings > fonts > install fonts function won't let me use this file either.

Please help, it's driving me nuts to have all my emails and ggplot2 graphs in italics.

    Accidentally Duplicated Arial Font Family

Cannot install Arial Narrow font on Windows 10

We upgraded 4 computers from Windows 7 to Windows 10, and also installed Office 365. Along the way, we discovered that many Excel files were showing as blank. Tracked it down to missing Arial Narrow font on all the computers. It was there in Windows 7
and Office 2010, but missing after upgrades.

Research shows that upgrading to Windows 10 leaves behind the Arial Narrow (and actually a few other Office 2010 fonts), but on 3 of the computers, I was able to find all the missing fonts and copy the font files to C:\Windows\Fonts and reboot, then have
the Arial Narrow (and others) show up correctly.

BUT, on one computer, I cannot get Arial Narrow to install. I've followed the same steps as the other computers, but no Arial Narrow in the control panel fonts app. The fonts exist in c:\windows\fonts. The entries for the 4 fonts exist in the registry
and match the files in c:\windows\fonts. I've tried right-clicking each of the 4 font files and choosing to install for all users. I've cleared the font cache files using instruction found elsewhere.

No matter what I do, I cannot get Arial Narrow to display on this one computer.

Any other ideas how I can get this font (4 fonts in the family) to be seen by Windows?
