Windows 10: Accidentally replaced my own name with "Music" under Usersfolder, how do I change it back?

    Accidentally replaced my own name with "Music" under Usersfolder, how do I change it back?


    Hi all,


    I changed my Music folder location to D: drive and would like to change it back to its original location, which I thought is my own name folder under Users. I dragged the Music folder to my own name folder a regular way to move files. It gives me a bunch of dialog boxes, I didn't take a look and just clicked on confirm. And then..., this happened:

    My own name folder got replaced by the Music folder, and all the files under Music folder got moved but not the Music folder itself. This caused some issues this morning that my conEmu can't find the correct path. So I'd like to change the name of the folder back. However, the folder can't be renamed shows in grey color....

    And when I tried to create a new folder with my own name, the folder just disappear...

    What can I do to fix this issue? Thank you!

    name changes??

    If you desire a name change please do the following:

    • Ask yourself if you really need a name change.
    • Make sure you have a good reason.
    • Know what you want your new name to be before you request a name change.
    • Send Urlyin a PM containing a decent explanation of your reason as well as your desired name.

    We appreciate you getting back to us. To change the cmd name, we suggest that you follow this steps:

    • Open a Command Prompt (Adimin) window: Win+X, A, Alt+Y
    • Then run the following command to change your computer name to Donner: WMIC ComputerSystem where Name=COMPUTER-NAME call Rename Name=NewName
    • Reboot your PC.
    • Try to run ipconfig / all command, you should find that the Host Name in Windows IP Configuration list has been changed to the new name.
