    Hi All,I've just created a new child account to add to my family safety app and so my daughter can log into the PC. I have literally gone through the process of setting up a new child account for her. However, when I try to accept the invite and try to log into her account it says that the account doesn't exist. But if I try and set up a new account with the username I have just set up for her it tells me that the username is in use and cannot use it. This is very frustrating, has anyone come across this before?Many Thanks

    Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

    We understand that the child account in family safety is showing the status as pending. If I have not understood incorrectly.

    We suggest you to re-login to that particular child account and check for the issue.

    Your account may need to be verified. In some cases, a new Terms of Use agreement may be pending on your account in another Microsoft service.

    • Try signing into another Microsoft service (like Outlook.com) to make sure the Microsoft account is working correctly.
    • If you’ve recently changed your email address through another service, please have another parent associated with your family sign in and invite you at your new email address.

  3. Changing Adult Account to Child Account

    Hi Peter,

    To rectify your issue in converting an account from child/teen to an adult, we suggest that you try these steps and see if it helps.

    • Press Windows key + I to open Settings.
    • Click Accounts.
    • Click Family and other users on the left pane.
    • Select the adult account and click Change account type.

    adding an existing account to family as a child

    I am trying to add an existing account to my family as a child account. I have gotten as far as sending an invitation to his gmail account, and he has logged on and accepted the invitation. Now the problem. On one computer screen, it now lists him as
    a child in the family, but on another screen at the same time, it says that the status in pending until he accepts the invitation to join. Until this is resolved, I cannot set parental controls. Any ideas? I have already waited about an hour for the screens
    to sync.
