Windows 10: Accounts And Passwords Difficulty

I use a MS Account. I want Lock Screen and the MS Account to have different passwords and now understand that that's a problem. If I go to my account in Settings and click on "Sign in with a local account instead," what happens exactly? I used to have a Local Account and switched it to a MS Account. If I click on that link do I wind up setting up a new (Local) account, does it re-activate my original Local Account, what exactly? When I shut down my computer does it come back up with the account that was active when I turned it off? If I go to a Local Account and change the password, does it change only the Lock Screen password, not my MS Account password? I don't use MS apps or games. Is there anything else I need to be concerned about? One person who answers questions on the MS community forum said something about MS apps/games sometimes changing a Local Account to a MS Account, something like that. As I said, I don't use either of those, but the idea that that can happen is scary. Anybody know anything about this?

Again, my objective is to have 2 different PWs, one for Lock Screen and one for my MS account/Microsoft.com. If I go to MS.com while logged on as Local, would my PW at MS.com be my Local PW or my MS PW? Would my PW for Lock Screen and MS be the same, just depending how I log on to my computer or which account I may switch to on my Account screen in Settings?

(I'm on the current version of W10. And for those inclined to ask, I use a MS Account only to make restoring my system to a new computer/disk drive/motherboard at least potentially easier if I should ever need to do that. That's what I read on this site and somewhere else.)

Local Account password changed to Online Account Password

Hi,

I suggest you to follow the steps on how to switch from Microsoft account to Local account:

• Click on search in taskbar and type account.
• Click on Accounts.
• Now, under Your account, click on Sign in with Local account instead.
• Enter your Microsoft account password for confirmation and then follow the screen instruction.
• Enter User name credentials for your the Local account and click OK.
• Now, login to Local account.

you know when you boot up your computer... and yeha i have more than one account and I forgot the password to one of them.

is there anyway for me to get in to the account? or the account will be perminant lock if i dont remember password?
