Windows 10: Acer announces latest lineup of consumer laptops

Acer has introduced a suite of new consumer notebooks across its Swift, Spin and Aspire series, all powered by 11th Gen Intel Core processors with Intel Iris Xe graphics. The refreshed devices also come with features such as full HD IPS touch screens, ports that provide fast and convenient data transfer and the flexibility of different modes. Most also include Cortana and/or Windows Hello.

Acer Swift 3x

Creative professionals such as photographers and YouTubers will probably appreciate the Acer Swift 3, a 3-pound device that can handle the most task-intensive apps for up to 17.5 hours at a time and, if necessary, can also be fast charged to provide four hours of use in just 30 minutes. It will be available in North America in December starting at $899.99; in Europe, Middle East and Africa in November starting at 849 euros; and in China in October, starting at 4,999 RMB.

Acer Spin 5

The award-winning Acer Spin 5 is a touch screen convertible notebook that weighs in at 2.6 pounds and is 0.59-inches thin. It has a 360-degree hinge design that enables it to transform into tablet mode for taking notes or clamshell mode for typing, where the keyboard is slightly elevated for an ergonomic typing experience and better thermal performance. You can also opt for a BPR & EPA-compliant silver-ion antimicrobial agent in the coating on the keyboard, touchpad and surrounding surface, which has been proven to show a consistently high microbial reduction rate against a broad range of bacteria.

It will be available in North America in February 2021 starting at $999.99; in Europe, Middle East and Africa in December starting at 1,099 euros; and in China in November, starting at 6,999 RMB.

Acer Spin 3

The Acer Spin 3 is a 13.3-inch notebook that rotates 360 degrees, giving users the ability to work and play in whatever way comes naturally. It also comes with a built-in Acer Active Stylus with 4,096 levels of pressure sensitivity to make the most of the touch screen when sketching or writing. It will be available in North America in March 2021 starting at $849.99; and in Europe, Middle East and Africa in December starting at 899 euros.

Acer Aspire 5

The Acer Aspire 5 clamshell notebook full HD IPS touchscreen display is surrounded by narrow bezels that allow for a more than 80% screen-to-body ratio. It packs in up to 24 GB DDR4 Memory and up to 1 TB M.2 PCIe SSD and 2 TB HDD storage. An ergonomic hinge design lifts the body and tilts the keyboard to an angle for comfortable typing, better sound projection and improved ventilation.

The Acer Aspire (A514-54) 14-inch laptop will be available in North America in December starting at $499.99; in Europe, Middle East and Africa in November starting at 599 euros; and in China in September, starting at 4,499 RMB.

The Acer Aspire (A517-52) 17.3-inch laptop will be available in North America in February 2021 starting at $549.99; and in Europe, Middle East and Africa in November starting at 599 euros.

Acer TravelMate P2

Acer also announced three new products in its TravelMate series of notebooks for enterprise and business users: the TravelMate Spin P4 (TMP414RN-51), the TravelMate P4 (TMP414-51) and the TravelMate P2 (TMPP214-53).

These light and thin devices pack plenty of power: 11th Gen Intel Core processors with Iris Xe graphics or up to discrete NVIDIA GeForce MX350 GPUs and up to 32 GB DDR4 RAM, 4 lane PCIe SSDs and 1 TB M.2 SSD storage. You can also expect to get a full day of work â and then some â out of each device. The TravelMate Spin P4 and TravelMate P4 notebooksâ batteries last up to 15 hours, while the TravelMate P2âs batteries can last up to 13 hours [1]. TravelMate P4 and TravelMate Spin P4 can be fast charged to up to 80% in just an hour.

For more secure logins through Windows Hello, the notebooks feature IR cameras and fingerprint readers, while a built-in webcam cover further protects privacy.

TravelMate Spin P4 notebook models come with a scratch-resistant 14-inch Full HD Corning Gorilla Glass touch display. You can also rotate them 360 degrees into laptop, stand, tent or tablet modes. With its dockable Acer Active stylus and Windows Ink, you can easily draw and take notes.

The TravelMate P4 and TravelMate Spin P4 come with updates that can make the transition to working at home easier: a spill-resistant keyboard and shock-absorbent corners. Conference calls will also sound clearer with upward facing speakers.

All three models come with Intel Wi-Fi 6 (Gig+) to ensure a smoother wireless experience and have eSIM-enabled 4G LTE connectivity, so business travelers can connect to local networks and quickly set up new data plans without having to swap out SIM cards or visit stores. They all also have an Intel Thunderbolt 4 port, enabling lightning-fast data transfer up to 40 Gbs â four times the data and twice the video bandwidth of any other port type.

The TravelMate P2 (P214-53) will be available in North America in March 2021 starting at $799.99; in Europe, Middle East and Africa in November starting at 759 euros; and in China in October, starting at 4,999 RMB.

The TravelMate P4 (TMP414-51) will be available in North America in December starting at $899.99; in Europe, Middle East and Africa in November starting at 899 euros; and in China in October, starting at 5,999 RMB.

Porsche Design Acer Book RS

Acerâs last announcement of the day involves a new partnership with Porsche Design that has produced a high-end notebook that combines advanced technologies with purist and minimalist design elements. The Porsche Design Acer Book RS comes with an all-metal chassis that packs in up to the latest 11th Gen Intel Core i7 processor and an NVIDIA GeForce MX350 GPU â all within 2.65 pounds and 0.63 inches. A carbon fiber cover tops off the chassis, a distinctive touch derived from decades of motorsports designs that value carbon fiber for its lightweight strength and extreme performance.

Intel co-engineered this device, which falls within the Intel Evo platform verified models that meet key experience targets for consistent responsiveness on battery, instant wake, real-world battery life and fast charge [2].

The two covers are connected by a unibody hinge that slightly elevates the keyboard upon opening the notebook, improving cooling and creating a more ergonomic typing experience. Backlit keys provide convenient typing, even at night, and the glass precision touchpad provides multi-gesture support.

Other features include: Dual-band Intel Wi-Fi 6 (Gig+), a full array of ports (USB-C, Thunderbolt 4 and USB3.2 Gen 2) and more secure fingerprint logins via Windows Hello, Modern Standby and Wake on Voice.

The Porsche Design Acer Book RS premium package (i7 notebook, travelpack, mouse) will be available in North America starting at $1,999.99; in Europe, Middle East and Africa starting at 2,399 euros; and in China, starting at 19,999 RMB.

Acer Laptops :are they crap ?

Acer makes a cheap prodcut period. They user lower end plastics, as well as assembly. (I hate working on Acer laptops)

If budget is an issue then get an acer... though for $50 more you could get a gateway that will smoke the acer in terms of quality.

For a laptop though i would suggest one of the DV7T's from HP or a Business class Toshiba/HP/IBM (not the lenovo branded, the Thinkpads)

Core 2 Duo for laptop CQ40-314TU

I have found something about CPU Upgrade on the Intel's Website, the manufacturer of my laptop's chipset (GM45 Chipset). Currently, the CPU which this laptop is using (Dual Core T3400) is NOT in this list: http://ark.intel.com/chipset.aspx?familyID=35509
The laptop's chipset also support Core 2 Extreme Technology, which I think the latest CPU Technology.
I have another laptop called Acer Aspire 5572ANWXMi that is using the chipset 945GM which support the T7600 (like you suggested) and it is in this list: http://ark.intel.com/chipset.aspx?familyID=22816
