Windows 10: Acer laptop doesnt wake up from hibernation

So I've had this very weird issue with my acer aspire 5 where it wakes up from sleep if it's woken up at short intervals. But when it's in sleep for a prolonged period of time, which I assume that it goes into hibernation since I've set it to do so after 180 minutes under power settings, it doesn't wake up from the power button or the mouse or keybaord. It only works once I plug in the charger or reset the battery using the button on the bottom. Also I should mention that the power indictator stays blue meaning that its "on" but the screen remains black. I have sent it to acer before due to a

Waking and Hibernate issues with new Laptop

I recently purchased a new laptop running windows 11 and found that

1. If I select the external mouse NOT to wake the PC in Power Management tab in properties, it continues to wake it. I tried different brands both wired and wireless and all showed the same issue.
   
2. If I select the internal mousepad To Wake the PC in power management tab in properties - NOTHING happens.
   
3. If I select the lid to wake the PC when it is open, this works as expected for up to 3 hours but at this point, when I open the lid, the PC does NOT wake up and the screen remains black. I have to press the power button to wake/reboot the PC as hitting the keyboard or mouse does nothing. I am then presented with a login window. It feels as though the PC goes from sleep into a hibernate mode after 3 hrs. The hibernate function is not listed in the advanced power options menu and neither does it show up when I click on the power button. Since I did not select the laptop to hibernate after 3 hrs sleep I have no idea what is going on.
   

I have an old Lenovo laptop running win10 and I have complete control of the lid and wake devices and so have no idea why I do not have the same control with this new laptop.

I do not know if these issues are related to the manufacturers setting rather than issues with Win11? I have heard that MS removed the Hibernate option from the power button and/or advanced power options list BUT wasnt aware that Hibernate was still operating under the bonnet and kicks in after 3 hrs sleep !?

any guidance would be helpful as the manufacturer is stating that this is normal behaviour. From my previous 20 years experience working with PC's and laptops, this is definitely NOT normal.

 

S4 (hibernation) USB/network wake up

Hi,

I have this annoying problem. When my computer enters the S4 powerstate (hibernation) I can wake it up by just clicking with the mouse. Even when EuP is enabled the mouse can still wake up the computer. After a night of sleep I find the computer powered on. So not only can the mouse wake up the system, it also seems that network traffic can too.

I thought that hibernation was like power off but with the option to save the RAM to disk. At least before I always need to push the power button to boot after hibernation.

Any suggestions?

Hibernate waking up on mouse movement

i decided to test if hibernate would startup similar to shutdown (semi recently fan is being loud after semi long use, sleep is like it not turning off at all but shutdown it stays quiet longer, seeing if it would be quiet in hibernate like shutdown) but
for some reason when i move my mouse it wakes it up...

when its in sleep id expect that mouse/keyboard signals to wake it up but when i hibernate id expect it to be a requirement for me to press the power button to start it again...

only noticeable difference between them is that the power button blinks when its in sleep mode and in hibernate it shows the initial screen with the F2 for bios thing... no other noticeable changes...

does anyone know why it acts this way? from memory it went into hibernate and required the power button to be hit but not sure

EDIT: just for usefulness: im on an acer pc (not laptop) and bios mode is uefi

EDIT 2: fixing it means that sleep doesnt get affected (aka still wakes up by external source like mouse movement) while hibernate does (not waking up by external changes other than hitting the power button) as both options are useful for me
