Windows 10: Acer Random Keys Not working after windows 10 update

Ok so random keys seem to not be working on my Acer Aspire V3-571G-9686 laptop. Ive already found a solution, but wanted to post all I tried and all that failed and what finally succeeded.


Failed:

1. Reinstalling Drivers for both the mouse pad and keyboard from Acer

2. Updating the BIOS

3. Turning on/off filter keys (this sometimes worked but only while num lock was off causing the loss of the keypad)

4. Turning off the touch pad services

5. Completely reinstalling Windows 10


Solution:


1. Press Windows key and type the word lid

2. Select Change what closing the lid does

3. Under shutdown settings there should be a box that is checked called Turn On Fast Startup (recommended)

4. Uncheck this box

5. Restart the laptop


NOTE: This also fixed an intermittent issue I had with the onboard nvidea software for my graphics card not starting with a reboot.

Installing Windows 10 using Windows 7 key

Nope, you need to install Windows 10 first and make sure the Windows 7 key is transferred to your Windows account after you've installed Windows 10 (not quite sure how that works). I missed the last step and I could not activate Windows 10 after a re-install... Microsoft seem to have done everything they can to make it a PITA. Also, it's technically too late to do this now anyhow, as the upgrade offer has expired. But KMSPico works quite well...

As for getting rid of Windows, delete the Windows folder.

Thanks but I don't want to do any decrypting. I want to download a Win 10 ISO from Microsoft and install it using my Win 8 key. No other steps required. Is that possible?

Now that I have finally upgraded from Windows 8 to Windows 10 will my Windows 8 key work with a fresh install of Windows 10?
