    Activating Win 10


    I have had Winn10 HOME on my computer since I received it as a gift at Christmas 2014. The new computer had Win 8.1 with a complimentary number to install Win 10 which was done. Now I am getting an Activate Windows - Go to Settings to activate Windows - in the right hand corner of screen.

    I go there and find out the machine is running Win 10 PRO not HOME. My downloads are done automatically. Could a download created this problem?

    Since my machine was a gift I have no product key or digital number to enter when trying to activate? Win 10 HOME is legally installed on this computer. What do I do now?

    Hi,

    You might see this error if you entered a product key for the Enterprise edition of Windows to activate
    Windows 10 Home or
    Windows 10 Pro. Activation in Windows 10 will depend on how you got your copy of Windows.
    To find the activation method that works with your copy of Windows, kindly refer to this

    Unable to Activate Win 8

    I was about to suggest run CMD as Admin and then do a "slmgr -ipk xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx" activation...does anyone know if that works with win8?
