  1. Activating Windows 10 on one Microsoft account, but purchased the product key on another

For the purpose of this question which contains two accounts, I will be referencing one as Account A and the second as Account B.

On my current desktop I am signed in and set as administrator through Account A. I recently purchased a Windows 10 Home key on Account B but need to activate it still. I did a fresh install on this PC using a USB drive and the Windows creation tool, and entered the key when prompted during install. At first it was smooth but soon returned the watermark of 'Activate Windows'.

I have tried using all of the activation built-in actions such as the troubleshooter, which results in an error saying it cannot communicate with the activation servers. I also get an error when I try to 'change product key' saying it did not work, even though my key was purchased from Microsoft directly digital key and email confirmation.

After the fresh re-install, the windows key is still the old one and not changed to the new key, which I assume is why it is not recognized as activated. But, I cannot seem to change it with errors around every corner. I first got the watermark after a major hardware change a couple months ago motherboard and dealt with the watermark since but now want it gone and to fix performance.

Am I able to sign in to the Microsoft account I purchased the product key on through this PC while saving all my data and files?

Does the device need to be registered under Account B in order to be recognized with Windows 10? I have added it to this PC but it is not the main or administrator account.

Will I have to purchase yet another product key for Account A already signed in? or simply remove this account? If so, I did not see an option to change the administrator account.

    :)

  2. Installing Windows 10 using Windows 7 key

Nope, you need to install Windows 10 first and make sure the Windows 7 key is transferred to your Windows account after you've installed Windows 10 (not quite sure how that works). I missed the last step and I could not activate Windows 10 after a re-install... Microsoft seem to have done everything they can to make it a PITA. Also, it's technically too late to do this now anyhow, as the upgrade offer has expired. But KMSPico works quite well...

As for getting rid of Windows, delete the Windows folder.

  3. Now that I have a new mobo and Ryzen processor, Windows 10 will not Activate....

Well... dark option lingers for a while... better for eyes. It does not matter insider or not.

Now input account. Verify it also in settings. It should bind with your key and change to the activation type like I do.

Here is the same. Try to insert the key again btw... any even win 7 keys do work still btw... it may give an error, but reboot and it becomes active usually.

Cool, I didn't know that. *Big Grin Activating Windows 10 on one Microsoft account, but purchased the product key on another :D

I agree that the dark option is nice. I typically like to have a dark grey if possible, rather than jet black.
