  1. Activating Windows after significant hardware upgrade

I am about to undertake a significant hardware upgrade:
    M'board, CPU, RAM, GPU

Also considering a new M.2 boot drive which may/may not complicate process as I currently have windows installed to my SATA SSD

Question I have is how do I ensure I can still activate and use my copy of W10 after the upgrade?
I did the slmgr -dli method to find that my copy is a RETAIL copy but I bought the machine second hand and do not have a copy of the license key.
I have linked it to my microsoft account I believe but I don't want to touch anything until I know for sure I am not gonna get stuck .

    Any advice appreciated

    :)

Windows 10 Activation after hardware change

    • "You upgraded to Windows 10 using the free upgrade offer, but Windows 10 isn't activated after a reinstall. Your copy of Windows 10 should automatically be activated so long as you didn't make any significant hardware changes to your device (such as replacing
      the hard drive or motherboard)."

I just recently upgraded my motherboard, graphics card, and processor. Now my Windows 10 isnt activated anymore, and when i go through the steps to troubleshoot, it says the windows activation just says.

    Unable to activate Windows

We can’t reactivate Windows on this device. Try again later.

anyone have an answer to this please...

  3. Windows 10 wont "Activate" after hardware upgrade

    Hi, fcp4life,

Follow the steps listed in this Support Doc.

Reactivating Windows 10 after a hardware change

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/20530/...

If you made a significant hardware change to your device (such as replacing the motherboard), Windows 10 might no longer be activated and you might see the activation error codes 0x803f7001 or 0xC004C008.

If your Original Hardware Manufacturer (OEM) changed the motherboard for you, your PC should reactivate automatically or you should be provided with a replacement product key. If you see the Activation error “Unable to reach Windows activation servers,” then
follow the steps in this additional help article.

Windows 10. Hardware upgrade and Activation

I have upgraded the hardware in my PC today (It is a major upgrade ie. motherboard etc.).

However now Windows is asking me to activate again.

On the activation screen Windows is reporting error 0xc004c003.

The trouble shooting agent does not appear to be able to solve the issue when I click on it.

Went through the steps with the virtual agent and it ended up at this statement:

"You upgraded to Windows 10 using the free upgrade offer, but Windows 10 isn't activated after a reinstall. Your copy of Windows 10 should automatically be activated so long as you didn't make any significant hardware changes to your device (such as replacing
    the hard drive or motherboard)."

However this does not tell me how to resolve the issue. Anny help would be appreciated as I had a very legal and working copy of Windows 10 before the hardware upgrade and now I am stuck and I do not want to buy a new copy.
