Windows 10: Activating windows - Software protection service not starting

Hello!


Recently I encountered an issue with my windows where it got deactivated automatically, I tried running the troubleshoot however no luck.

I then went ahead and bought a copy of "Windows 10 pro" thinking perhaps my windows has been deactivated or expired. Anyway, when I tried using the product key I kept getting an error that's below in the screenshot.

After researching a bit, I was told this happens when the Software protection service is not running properly, therefore I navigated to services and attempted to start the specified service, however, there was access denied error.

I searched on the web and various solutions were found, I tried them all but no luck at all. Here are some of them that I have tried:

Transferring the ownership of the file https://thegeekpage.com/fix-software-protection-service-issue-in-windows-10/

And basically lot more that mostly say the same things, but here are the screenshots about how it currently looks like:

Yes, I have rebooted the windows several times.

Yes, I have installed all updates.

However I'm still unable to start the software protection service! any help please?

Software protection service cannot start

This did not solve my problem.

The Software Protection service failed to start due to the following error:

The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.

The system appers to be fried. Now windows, which has been activated for over a year now says it can no be activated.

The detecting activation problems hangs and will not complete.

The Software Protection Service checks for the authenticity of a software when you try to install one.

It also checks for the activation status of the Windows version that you have installed in
your computer. If the service finds that the software you are trying to install is not legitimate, it denies you the access to install the software.

Software Protection Service Wont Start

The software protection service (sppsvc) will not start.
When I try to run this command: "net start sppsvc" in an administrator command prompt I get this error:
"The Software Protection service could not be started. A system error has occurred. System error 5 has occurred. Access is denied."

I have tried taking ownership of sppsvc.exe in System32 and setting this registry entry's permissions to full access "Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\SoftwareProtectionPlatform".
Windows version 1909
