Windows 10: Activation Chat Suspended

I've had W10 activated and running on this laptop for around a year. Last week, I got an "Activate Windows" message that's still sitting here. Poking around support, I found a live chat option that hooked me up with a helpful tech. She decided, after taking control and investigating, that my windows installation was damaged and a new one should be reinstalled. I was advised that the download and installation would take a couple hours, so she gave me a case number for following up, which I'm hoping includes activation. This laptop, by the way, was purchased used off of eBay. I don't remember if it came with W7 or 8.1 or what, and there's no Windows tag on its underside.

So my question is, where do I go to resume this procedure? I don't see live chat as an option now for tech help. I called an 800 number, and the guy wanted me to try entering the number from a W7 install disk I might have used when I got this thng. It didn't work, maybe because of the fresh install I was fed.

Need to turn off Bitlocker to install Windows 10

We suggest doing the following steps again to resolve the issue. To complete the procedure, make sure that you have the following information:

• You must be able to provide administrative credentials.
• The drive must be BitLocker-protected.

To suspend BitLocker Drive Encryption on an operating system drive, please follow the steps below:

• Click Start, click Control Panel, click
  System and Security, and then click BitLocker Drive Encryption.
• Click Suspend Protection for the operating system drive.
• A message is displayed, informing you that your data will not be protected while BitLocker is suspended and asking if you want to suspend BitLocker Drive Encryption.
  
• Click Yes to continue and suspend BitLocker on the drive.
