    Activation error code: 0xC004F012


    So I've had my laptop for the last 5 years. Never changed any hardware on it or anything, but all of a sudden today it claims that Windows isn't activated. I try the troubleshooter and it says that there's a digital license on the pc and I have to "Upgrade my edition of Windows". I tried that and it still comes back with the same error. I've used the troubleshooter several times and it gives me the same result. I let it run the upgrade and it still comes back with the error when it restarts. I also asked a friend of mine who works in IT for some potential fixes but nothing he gave me works. Why is windows suddenly claiming its not activated, and why can't I fix it no matter what I try? The error code in the subject is the error code I get every time.
