Windows 10: Activation invalidated after upgrading hardware

I recently upgraded my pc and ended up swapping in a new motherboard as well as a new processor and RAM, Same hard drives though, same case, same power supply, same everything else. Do the upgrade, start it up, windows greets me with some gibberish about a TPM and then tells me my key for windows is no longer valid. Tried the troubleshooter, error, can't fix it. I'm not logged in with any other devices so I can't reactivate that way and it's not a digital license, it was originally with a refurbished pc that was purchased around 5 years ago. Either way I just want the activation text to go awa

Activation after new hardware upgrades?

Right - my point was to see what would happen if I tried the OS from one system on a totally different motherboard, and it went better than I expected, other than the activation - which I expected. I did chat with a Microsoft rep today online and he confirmed that after the hardware upgrade on a free Win10 upgrade that they (Mircosoft) will have to remote access my system to verify the proper key, etc. before they can reactivate it.

i followed the troubleshooter steps but something goes wrong and it just says oops try again later...

any suggestions?

This error may be due to an invalid product key. However, you can try the steps provided in these articles:

• How to Verify If You Downloaded or Installed the Latest Version Windows 10.
• Upgrade Windows 10 Home to Windows 10 Pro.

If you still get the error message after following the steps in the articles, we suggest that you contact the product key distributor to request for a new one.
