Windows 10: Activation of windows 10

Just bought all new parts for my Pc. Also upgraded from windows 7 to 10, as I was downloading wins10 on to the hard-drive it corrupted just after completing the install. Meaning I had to reboot and format then start the installation process again, however this has caused wins10 to believe the product key has already been used and wont let me activate my product key any advice would be welcome.

I won't buy a key, stupid.

I'll revert back to windows 7 then.

When I still was on windows 7, about a year ago I added 4GB extra ram which is a total of 8GB now,
is that causing the problem?
