    Activation on new hardware

Bought a digital licence earlier in the year after reading I would be able to transfer that licence to new hardware. Well one PC replacement later and error code 0xC004f213 is popping up. Using the troubleshooter I get as far as choosing this current PC to reactivate and it just errors again. I can see my Purchase of Windows 10 Home in my order history but apart from seeing my order details I am directed to a page that connot be found and I purchased my windows license directly from the microsoft store.

Have I misunderstood and the license I purchased was a one time use?

    :)

  2. Activation troubles after hardware chnage

    Here's what happened:

    • Linked my Windows 10 Pro Licence to my Microsoft account.
    • Switched out to a new motherboard, new install linked to my Microsoft account.
    • Activation has failed, (Error Code: 0xC004C003) when I try to troubleshoot:
    • Have been trying for 3 days now - still not activated.
Anyone got any ideas or suggestions on what I can do?

    Thanks

    Activation after new hardware upgrades?

Right - my point was to see what would happen if I tried the OS from one system on a totally different motherboard, and it went better than I expected, other than the activation - which I expected. I did chat with a Microsoft rep today online and he confirmed that after the hardware upgrade on a free Win10 upgrade that they (Mircosoft) will have to remote access my system to verify the proper key, etc. before they can reactivate it.

    Activation after new hardware upgrades?

But you had never upgraded that motherboard from Windows 7/8/8.1 to Windows 10 previously? That was the first step of my suggestion.

It should have been install fresh SSD on the new motherboard. Install Windows 7 on it. Upgrade it to Windows 10. THEN copy the other Windows 10 image over to it.
