    When I configure a PC, one of the first steps is to assign a name to the device. I can only choose a name who belongs in "Active Directory Users and Computers". Before assigning a name, however, I need to figure out if that name is already taken by another device. To do this:I open PowerShell and ping a name; if something reply to the ping, that means that the name is already taken;I use a software named Advanced IP Scanner to examine the corporate's intranet to determine which names are already taken;I use an asset management tool to see which names are already taken.Despite these checks, som

    Active Directory Computers list

    Hello,

    I am trying to add an organizational unit to the active directory I created on my windows server 2016. However, I realize that there is no computer in the active directory computer list on my DNS domain
    (Server Manager > Tools > AD Users and Computer > domain > Computers). I did set up ADDS, DNS and DHCP through server manager. Changed the Network settings, changed the system name. Every possible thing has been tried, but I fail to understand why there is
    no computer in the active directory computer list on my DNS domain. The Domain name and the full computer name (Name.DomainName.com) does show up in the system properties. Please help me out.

    The directory name is invalid

    Hi David,

    Since you have rebuilt your computer, it may have made some changes or installed some updates that might be causing the error message "G: \The directory name is invalid". However, let's check if there is a device that you can remove in Safely Remove Hardware
    utility. Follow these steps to access the utility:

    • Press the Windows icon + R on your keyboard.
    • Copy and paste this 'RunDll32.exe shell32.dll,Control_RunDLL hotplug.dll".
    • Remove any device that you'll see in the utility.
    • Restart your computer, then observe if the issue will occur again.
