Windows 10: Active Windows 10 Home with product key. Error 0x8007005

After upgrading my motherboard, my system tells me to activate Windows. I am not able to do so by logging in to my Microsoft account, my current device is not showing on the list of devices I can activate Windows on, however it does show if I click on "Show other devices linked to your Microsoft account"I do however have a product key for Windows 10 Home, that I purchased for this exact scenario back in 2017, but when entering that code in the "Change product key" input, it says that the key can not be used to activate Windows, followed by the error 0x8007005.I have read somewhere that this is

Possibly there can be the problem with Microsoft activation Server, so your Windows 10 is not activated. In this scenario, you need to wait and verify if it is the issue from Microsoft’s side. But if you are getting error code 0x803f7001, you can also try these steps:

1. Open Settings app. Then go to Update and security > Activation screen > Change product.
2. Type your Windows edition product key and click Next.
3. You’ll get We couldn’t activate Windows error message.
4. Retry steps 1-3 then type your 25-characters unique product key.
5. Wait for the process to complete, Windows 10 is activated.

Windows 10 product keys and activation - and the KMS angle

Changing the product key to the generic Windows 10 product key will reset activation to the standard retail channel for activation. It might just activate (if there was a previous digital license for Windows 10 for that computer established with Microsoft). Once Windows 10 is back on the retail activation channel, then more than likely changing the product key to the Windows 8 product key using the same method may work.
