I've searched the community and can't find the same issue I'm having. My screen dims just like adaptive brightness, but my adaptive setting is turned off, my light sensor and camera are covered. I noticed this is actually based on what my screen displays. Example: If I have bright images or background webpages or docs my display stays on the manual setting I placed it at 90%. HOWEVER, if my screen displays anything with dark images dark mode or other dark webpage it slowly dims to 60% but still shows it's at 90% in the settings. When I click back to another bright page word document or

  2. help brightness in windows 10

    Hi,

I am Lokesh.I would be happy to help you out with your concern.

Select action center on the right side of the taskbar, and then move the Brightness slider
to adjust the brightness. (If the slider isn't there, see the Notes section below.)

    • Some PCs can let Windows automatically adjust screen brightness based on the current lighting conditions. To find out if your PC supports this, go to Settings > System > Display.
Under Brightness and color, look for the Change brightness automatically when lighting changes check box, and then select it to use this feature. This automatic setting helps make sure your screen is readable wherever
you go. Even if you use it, you can still move the Change brightness for the built-in display slider to fine-tune the brightness level.
    • Notes:
      • You might not see the Change brightness for the built-in display slider on desktop PCs that have an external monitor. To change the brightness on an external monitor, use the buttons on it.
      • The Brightness slider appears in action center in Windows 10, version 1903. To find the brightness slider in earlier versions of Windows 10, select Settings > System > Display,
and then move the Change brightness slider to adjust the brightness.
      • If you don't have a desktop PC and the slider doesn't appear or work, try updating the display driver. In the search box on the taskbar, type Device Manager, and then select Device Manager from the list of results. In Device Manager,
select Display adapters, then select the display adapter. Press and hold (or right-click) the display adapter name, then select Update driver and follow the instructions.

      Hope it will help you.

      Give your feedback

Adaptive brightness NOT based on external lighting. Can anyone help?

    Windows 10 Adaptive Brightness

    Hi Joseph

I am Dave, an Independent Advisor, I will help you with this . . .

Does the brightness on your screen change depending on whether the content on your screen is dark or bright, and not depending on the ambient light in your room?

If so, this is not an Adaptive Brightness setting, most likely, this is caused by a setting on your graphics card driver

Right click your Desktop, do you see a Control panel listed for your graphics card?

Open Device Manager (accessible by right clicking your Start Button)

Expand the Display Adapters section, what device(s) are listed there?
