Windows 10: Add a feature to create a ZIP archive with a password

Hello, if I remember correctly, you have added the native zip archive creation feature in Windows 10. Could you now add in Windows 11 22h2 the creation of ZIP archive with a password protection option like an archiver like 7zip/winrar/winzip does.It's such a basic function, but very useful to share an archive and protect its access simply.Thank you.

I don't whether this has been brought up before. But i have notice such thing in Windows 10, let me describe it in the following steps:

1. i created a .Zip formatted archive using 7-Zip with zipcryto option and a password.

2. then i open the zip archive using windows explorer (double click), password prompt came up, i entered the password so the file inside the archive opened,

3. i closed the file and Windows Explorer .

4. i open the Windows Explorer again and find that .zip archive and double click it and this time it just OPEN IT STRAIGHTAWAY WITHOUT ASKING THE PASSWORD!!!!

i have tried many times and it appeared that only the first time the password will be asked then the Windows Explorer can just open it without password. This never happened in my windows xp/windows 7

Windows 10 Opens encrypted zipped archives without entering password

It is not a third party program. The zip files were created in XP with password protection using the compressed file option within Windows. Ever since then, whenever the zip file is extracted Windows always prompted to enter the password.

Beginning with Windows 10, it only asks for the password the first time. Once anyone extracts or opens the zip archive, the password is recorded somewhere. If someone else using the same PC, tries to extract the zip archive, it happily extracts it without
prompting for the password again - which it should and used to, in XP, Windows 7, and Windows 8.

There is no third-party involved here.

The ability to create a password for compressed files no longer exists beginning with Windows 7. However, existing passwords were all honored for every extraction. That is now broken with Windows 10.

Hello,

To create a folder with passwords using 7-Zip follow these steps:

• Download 7-Zip from
  here and install it.
• Select the folder you want and right-click > 7-Zip > add to archive
• At this point fill in the fields dedicated to the encryption by entering the password you want to set and click OK.
