  1. Add a NAS location to Windows 10 Index

I want my network folder to be indexed by Windows.
I am using Siemens Solid Edge 2020 with Solid Edge Data Management [SEDM] which
needs Windows Indexing to work properly.
We work on 2 separate PC's and store our drawingdata on a Synology 218+ NAS.

This way we have acces to the same database for our drawings.
But for SEDM to work we need the folders containing our data to be indexed by Windows.
I cannot get it to work and our service partner Enginia is unable to solve this issue without
    switching to a server situation.

Help would be very much appreciated!

    :)

  2. Is there any way to index NAS in Windows 10?

    Hi Deepak,

Indexing files from NAS in Windows would be a great idea. As a workaround, you may refer to the steps below:

    • Open File Explorer.
    • Click This PC.
    • On the right pane click Network locations group, and then select
      Add a network location.
    • .Click Next on the welcome screen of the Add Network Location wizard.
    • Ensure that Choose a custom network location is selected on the "Where do you want to create this network location?" page. Click
      Next.
    • On the Specify the location of your website window, type the network path to the Internet or network address box. Click
      Next.
    • On the Completing the Add Network Location Wizard screen, click
      Finish.
    • Restart your computer to apply the changes.
Should you need further assistance, feel free to get back to us.

Windows 10 Add NAS locations to search index

Hmm. Am I the only one thinking this would we a nice thing? I seem to be unable to add any UNC/NAS drive location to the Windows Search Index. I read only in previous 32bit versions there was an "Add UNC Path" tab within the index applet but not for 64bit. What gives? Do we not need to index mapped NAS drives? And if not, why not?

And no, I dont want to add them to the libraries. I dont use and like the library crap.
