    This tutorial will show you how to add or remove the Allow system required policy setting under Sleep in Power Options for all users in Windows 7, Windows 8, and Windows 10.

    *Warning You must be signed in as an administrator to be able to add or remove this setting in Power Options.


    CONTENTS:
    • Option One: Add or Remove "Allow system required policy" in Power Options using Command Prompt
    • Option Two: Add or Remove "Allow system required policy" in Power Options using REG file

    OPTION ONE [/i] Add or Remove "Allow system required policy" in Power Options using Command Prompt
    1. Open an elevated command prompt.

    2. Type the command below you want to use into the elevated command prompt, and press Enter.
    (Add)
    powercfg -attributes SUB_SLEEP A4B195F5-8225-47D8-8012-9D41369786E2 -ATTRIB_HIDE

    OR

    (Remove - default)
    powercfg -attributes SUB_SLEEP A4B195F5-8225-47D8-8012-9D41369786E2 +ATTRIB_HIDE
    3. You can now close the elevated command prompt if you like.





    OPTION TWO [/i] Add or Remove "Allow system required policy" in Power Options using REG file

    *note The downloaded .reg files below will modify the DWORD value in the registry key below.

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power\PowerSettings\238C9FA8-0AAD-41ED-83F4-97BE242C8F20\A4B195F5-8225-47D8-8012-9D41369786E2

    Attributes DWORD

    1 = Remove
    2 = Add


    1. Do step 2 (add) or step 3 (remove) below for what you would like to do.


    2. To Add "Allow system required policy" to Power Options
    A) Click/tap on the Download button below to download the file below, and go to step 4 below.

    Add_Allow_system_required_policy_to_Power_Options.reg

    Download

    3. To Remove "Allow system required policy" from Power Options
    *note This is the default setting.
    A) Click/tap on the Download button below to download the file below, and go to step 4 below.

    Remove_Allow_system_required_policy_from_Power_Options.reg

    Download
    4. Save the .reg file to your desktop.

    5. Double click/tap on the downloaded .reg file to merge it.

    6. When prompted, click/tap on Run, Yes (UAC), Yes, and OK to approve the merge.

    7. You can now delete the downloaded .reg file if you like.

  2. Cannot change the require sign-in options in sign in options

    Hi Gerad,

    I understand the inconvenience caused to you regarding the change of Required sign-in options but in RED is stated that "authentication is required when this pc awake from sleep and security policies on PC are preventing to change
    settings". I will certainly assist you.

    Please answer the below question to assist you better.

    Did you make any changes in the power options of the system?

    Follow the below steps and check if it helps.

    • Press Windows + X and then click on
      Control Panel.
    • Click on the Power options.
    • Click on Required a password on Wakeup
    • In the Password protection on Wake up click on
      Don’t required password.

    1709 Creators update - shutdown options missing - "there are currently no power options available"

    Hi Jacob,

    The error there are currently no power options available happens if the
    Shut down the system Policy isn't configured correctly. We suggest following these steps to fix it:

    • Press the Windows key and R at the same time to open the Run dialog box.
    • Type secpol.msc and click OK to open the
      Local Security Policy
      window.
    • Expand Security Settings.
    • Expand Local Policies.
    • Click User Rights Assignment.
    • Double-click Shut down the system from the right pane to open it's properties.
    • In the pop-up window, click Add User or Group, type the full user name or group name for the affected users, then click
      Add.
    • Click OK to close the window.
    • Restart the computer.

    Let us know if the power options in the Start menu are restored after following these steps.

    Windows 10 power options

    Hi Robert,

    About your concern with Windows 10 power options, applied settings may not be recognized due to several reasons. We suggest that you run the Windows 10 Power troubleshooter. Here are the steps to follow:

    • Go to Search, type troubleshoot, and click Troubleshooting.
    • Under System and Security, click Improve power usage.
    • The troubleshooting wizard will automatically start. It will try to solve any detected issues.
