Windows 10: Add IP Printer

Hell Y'all. I hope someone can help me. I am trying to add a Xerox network printer. Have gone through the normal add printer process and via IP. The printer does not show up under printers but is listed under unspecified. I can not click on or right click on. if I mouse over it shows status of Device setup in progress.

Windows 10 only allowing WSD printing and not TCP/IP printing for any printer I attempt to install

Running into an installation issue on Windows 10 workstation where OS is not allowing tcp/ip printing to printer. I can ping printer IP from DOS prompt (cmd) from same workstation and I can access printer's http management page via same workstation port
(80). However, when attempting to add tcp/ip printer the OS cannot see the printer. The printer add process returns a "generic Printer" setup page. If you select custom setting and force the tcp/ip printer driver install, once you attempt a test page you receive
a printer error. I have downloaded latest manufacturer printer drivers and upgraded Ethernet NIC driver but still encountering error. This is for any printer I attempt to add via tcp/ip.

Never mind. Add a TCP/IP port first; then add a new printer connected to the TCP/IP port.

 

Try installing the software for the printer first and see if it finds it. If you have Network Discovery on. Windows 10 should automatically find the printer on the LAN, unless you are on a Domain.

It helps to know the model of the printer, how you are connecting to the network. Also you need to finish filling out your System Spec's info.
