Hi everyone, I'm experiencing some issues with a program that I have to use for work.

My organization sent me a .exe file that I initially copied into my Google Drive folder, but somehow Windows was unable to launch it from that position. The only way to make it work was moving this "abcd_launcher.exe" program to my desktop.

Everytime I open the app it creates on the desktop an "imgui.ini" file, which is pretty annoying of course to have there.

Is there a way I can treat this .exe file like a regular program installer on Windows 10? I'd love to move it into CAdd Launcher.exe to Start + Deleting "imgui.ini" :programs, get rid of that file (at least visually) and so on...

  2. Microsoft launcher

    Hi AustinNeely\,

Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Community. May we ask if what troubleshooting you have tried? We highly suggest you to try the steps below.

    • Restart your phone.
    • If the issue persists after restarting your phone, it only means that the default launcher is needed for any other launchers to work properly. Re-installing the default launcher should resolve the issue.

Once your Android phone is back on its default settings, re-install the Microsoft Launcher and your other apps.

Note: You can easily restore your Microsoft Launcher settings if you have performed a back up. To back up your Microsoft Launcher settings, please do the following:

    1. Launch the Microsoft Launcher settings. (Tap and hold your phone's home screen and tap on the
      Launcher Settings.)
    2. Tap Back up & Restore.
    3. Tap Back up Microsoft Launcher option.
    4. Confirm that the Back up to cloud storage option is selected.
    5. Tap the Back up button.
    6. Check the settings that you want to back up.
    7. Tap the Back up now button.

You may restore your Microsoft Launcher back up after re-installing it.

If you can no longer re-install your phone's default launcher, please get in touch with its manufacturer for assistance on how you can reset it to its factory settings.

    Kind Regards,

    Rom G.

Start Menu Launcher Not Working: white box instead of app list

As of this morning, the launcher my start menu has stopped working properly. Normally, I launch all of my applications by hitting the windows key and typing out the name of what I want until it appears in the launcher. Now, my start menu looks fine when I first hit the windows key or click the windows logo to bring it up. However, this is what I get when I begin to type the name of an application:

Googling variations of the title I used in this post was not fruitful - I found nobody who had a similar problem so far. Restarting the computer does not fix the issue. Any tips on the appropriate steps to diagnose or fix this are much appreciated.

    Add Launcher.exe to Start + Deleting "imgui.ini"

    BCD / boot.ini Deleted HELP

Boot.ini is used in Windows XP and earlier Version of Windows. However, when you install Windows 10 you had the external HD connected and was marked as active so Windows 10 installation modified this file and re-direct to the Boot Manager.
More info on this: Where is the boot ini file? Heres how to find the boot ini in Windows 8

You can try the steps below to see if you can repair the Boot Manager:
    1. Download Macrium Rescue disk: MacriumRescue7170X86.iso - Google Drive
    2. Put it in a USB stick using: Rufus - Create bootable USB
    3. Disconnect your external HD where you had the Boot.ini deleted.
    4. Change the BIOS setting to boot from the USB
    5. Click where I have the arrow pointed at.

Add Launcher.exe to Start + Deleting "imgui.ini" [IMG]

If the steps above does not work and since you cannot boot into Windows to restore from RECYCLE.BIN and I am not sure that you can restore them by connecting the external drive to another PC since these deleted files are under some SID for each user. So yes, you can use Linux to explore it and copy all the files that you've deleted to another drive/USB and rename them accordingly and put them back where they were.

The worst case is you have to re-install Windows but:
    1. Make sure the drive that you intend to use for Windows OS is connected to the first port on your MB
    2. Make sure that the first boot device is first on the list of boot priority
    3. Disconnect all other drives (Internal/USB)

Hope this helps and good luck.
