    Delayed reply as the ISO took an absolute age to download!
    All installed and updated, same problem exists.

    I keep getting messages that apps "cannot be opened with the Built in Administrator account. Sign in with a different account and try again." But I can't add another account or even sign in with a Microsoft account.

    I was hoping that you would have been asked to setup an administrator account during Windows Setup since you only had the built-in Administrator.

    It looks like you may need to refresh or reset Windows 10 instead. Be sure to back up anything that you do not want to lose first. *Sad

    Hello Shawn I have looked around the tutorials but cannot find what I want to know and that is if I change my password on my 10 laptop which uses by default my Microsoft account and password to a PIN will that affect all of my machines including my 7 ones??

    I was disappointed when setting this machine up that I had to use a Microsoft account and hence my password for it instead of picking a password during install as per installing the 7 OS.

    When you change the Microsoft account password, it will sync to all devices that you sign in to with the same Microsoft account.

    Your PIN will not be affected since a PIN does not sync. A PIN is device specific.

    Thanks Shawn so I have it right then if say this laptop has a PIN this PIN will not be needed to login to any 7 machines or another 10 machine?

    Because I am intending to clean install my Sandy Bridge tomorrow with 10 as I have done with this old Toshiba though reasoning tells me the Sandy Bridge install I shall have to use that PIN during the install *Confused.

    To be honest I used to use the same login password for all the 7 machines because as you know passwords become a nightmare of a mess when one needs so many for so many sites etc.

    Correct,

    A PIN on that device has no bearing on any other.

    Ok mate so one PIN one machine in other words 4 machines 4 PIN's.

    So when I do that clean install tomorrow if I change the current password to a PIN then I will have to use that PIN when using my Microsoft account to set the machine up.

    I think I will leave as is with my current password for Live that way I shall not get into any problems.

    Yeah, but you aren't really changing a password to use a PIN, your password is still there for all your account actions that need it, you are just adding a PIN to sign in with on that machine, instead of using your password.

    Don't change your password because that will change it on all devices.
