  1. Add old C: HDD to my new Win 11 PC with 256gb ssd. Keep ssd as boot

I have a new pc with Win 11 installed on a 256gb ssd drive. I would like to copy my old Win 10 C: HDD drive and install it in the available HDD bay on the new pc. I don't want a dual boot system; I only want Win 11 so my question is, if I clone the old C: drive and install it in the new pc, will I have conflicts with the Win 10 files? And if I rename the old C: drive to D: drive since the ssd is C: in the new pc, will that create issues in accessing files and apps? I want everything from the old C: drive but not Win 10, but I don't think that can be removed. Ideally I would like to add a

  2. Install of Win 10 from old HDD to new SSD

My PC has a WD 1 T HDD as the primary drive with Win 10 installed. There is also an 2nd older WD HDD for data storage purposes if ever needed - unlikely.

I recently bought a new 500 GB SSD drive. I would like to install my WIN 10 on the new SSD using it as the primary drive.

To install on the new SSD, would I unplug the WD 1 T HDD and install the new SSD drive on the MB and then install Win 10 on the SSD.

After the above, I assume I then reconnect The WD 1 T HDD. With the OS on the New SSD, will the apps and programs that are on the WD HDD operate or will I have to reinstall them on the new SSD As well how do I delete Win 10 from the HDD - do I simply delete the files or delete the partitions or just don’t bother. The WD HDD a was not even close to being full and was bought for faster access.

Any suggestions on how to get the new SSD to work properly and windows off the old WD HDD so it does not interfere with the new SSD would be appreciated.

  3. switching (CAdd old C: HDD to my new Win 11 PC with 256gb ssd. Keep ssd as boot :) drives from old win 10 pro pc to new win 11 pc

Pretty self explanatory. The reason why I wanted to do this was because the new pc has a 256gb ssd and my old pc has a 500gb ssd, I also personally don't like win 11

Could I just replace the new ssd with the old one directly? Or would that mess up the OS?

Add old C: HDD to my new Win 11 PC with 256gb ssd. Keep ssd as boot

Windows will not boot from SSD after reformatting old HDD

    Hi,

I was running Win 10 on my old HDDs. I have successfully installed Win 10 on a new SSD and I was able to boot Windows on it. At startup, Win10 would prompt me if I wanted Win10 from Volume 1 (SSD) or from Volume 3 (old HDD).

I migrated all of my contents to the SSD and then I booted my PC and recreated the RAID on my HDDs (from 4HDs in 2x RAID0 to 4HDs in 1x RAID5).

Now my PC will not boot from the SSD (and it can't boot from the HDDs as there is nothing there anymore).

In the BIOs, I see the SSD configured as a boot sequence option. But after booting I have just a blank screen with a blinking cursor.

When I boot from my Win10 install DVD, I see the contents of my SSD on drive C:

I tried to run bootsect /nt60 c: and it was successful in setting the changes, but it failed to boot from the SSD after rebooting my PC.

My BIOS is currently configured for AHCI

My Hard Disk Drives in the Bios Boot Menu shows:

    1st drive: IDE:S0 WDC WDS200T (SSD)

2nd drive: HDDAdd old C: HDD to my new Win 11 PC with 256gb ssd. Keep ssd as boot :p0-WDC SD1002F

3rd drive: HDDAdd old C: HDD to my new Win 11 PC with 256gb ssd. Keep ssd as boot :p1-WDC SD1002F

4th drive: HDDAdd old C: HDD to my new Win 11 PC with 256gb ssd. Keep ssd as boot :p3-WDC SD1002F

5th drive: HDDAdd old C: HDD to my new Win 11 PC with 256gb ssd. Keep ssd as boot :p4-WDC SD1002F

    I also:

    - tried disabling drives 2-5

    - Setting SATA mode to RAID with drivers 2-5 enabled

    - Setting SATA mode to IDE

I will now try to install windows 10 again on the HDDs (RAID) to see if I can somehow recover.

    Anything else I could try?

    Thanks,

    Felipe
