Windows 10: Add or Delete Account in Windows 10 Mail app

I wan to add a Imap account and need to specify the server ports for incoming and outgoing. There are check boxes to require SSL but no box beside it for port. Google search shows this but I think it is for Win8 Maill app and not WIn10? Anyway, how do I tell it what ports?

After the name of the incoming/outgoing server enter a colon followed by the port number, another colon, and 1.

For example: smtp.gmail.com:465:1

 

Thanks Brink. I tried that to no effect. Perhaps it is the missing option to "login using clear text authentication"? This app is just missing a ton of functionality in setup that the Windows Live mail client has....

 

I agree with that. It's no Outlook 2016.

I would like to remove a account out of windows mail (app). Because i going using that account in the mail program thunderbird. I dont find anything to remove this account al the other account are removed. But this account is also my account to log in the computer have anyone a solution for this?

 

Anyone have any tips on how to get Outlook 2016 at a bargain price? I have a full Office 2010 license..

I'm afraid that the Microsoft account the your sign in to Windows 10 with cannot be removed from the Mail app as far as I'm aware of. *Sad

 

If you like Outlook 2010, it's still good to use unless you just wanted to update.

 

Yes, I'm still using it *Smile It works great!. The only thing I don't like is the "single point of failure" of the PST file. I got that corrupted somehow and had to set up outlook again. Im using IMAP accounts but its still a hassle. Is there a way to protect that file? Isnt there a way to have outlook create recovery copies? I guess this really belongs in another post now!

I'm stuck with my microsoft account in my mail app, even though I never added it and I am using a local account, anyone else dealt with this? The most I have done is sign in once with my account, possibly in the edge browser and now it's locked to my mail app with no option for removal. Will I really need to add another email account before I get the option to remove this one?

 

Have an account with POP3, can i set it to IMAP4 or i need to delete it and re-add it? I hope in sort option when i re-add to avoid mess.

Already have it, just want:

POP3->IMAP4

Don't want to delete my POP3 and re-add it as IMAP4 because have many accounts and once done i must re-sort them.
