Windows 10: Add or Remove Ultimate Performance Power Plan in Windows 10

I did this trick on a win home 1803 version and while it does show the plan alright.
Looking at the actual power plan in the reg key e9a42b02-d5df-448d-aa00-03f14749eb61 shows very little, there only a few keys and are same as HP plan.
So IMO either this trick doesn't fully work in lower versions and you need the Pro workstation version.

Other posibility might be its just unfinished and whats there is just placeholder.

It worked for me on 16299.334, but the result wasn't very sexy.

By the way, Microsoft still has USB selective suspend turned on by default on this plan(how's that maximum performance when your mouse, keyboard, or external drive goes to sleep????).

power option

A power plan is a collection of hardware and system settings that manages how your computer uses power. Power plans can help you save energy, maximize system performance, or achieve a balance between the two.

All users (standard and administrator) will be able to make changes to any power plan settings.

Changes made to a power plan will affect all users that have chosen the same power plan as their default active power scheme.

Windows 10 provides the following default plans:

Balanced - Offers full performance when you need it and saves power when you don't. This is the best power plan for most people.

Power saver - Saves power by reducing PC performance and screen brightness. If you're using a laptop, this plan can help you get the most from a single battery charge.

High performance - Maximizes screen brightness and might increase PC performance. This plan uses a lot more energy, so your laptop battery won't last as long between charges.

Ultimate Performance - Only available starting with Windows 10 build 17083. Provides ultimate performance on higher end PCs.

Custom power plan - These are only available if either your PC manufacturer (OEM) provided additional power plans, and/or you create a custom power plan. These are available to all users.

Disable Power Plan or set a Power Plan to Default during start up?

I've been having this problem with the power plan being switched away from Ryzen Balanced, I discovered the cause - it's Asus Ai Suite 3 in my case. After trying everything I can think of last night I wondered if I could change it with a batch file at
startup, I fired up google with very little hope that someone had already done it but this post was at the top of the search - and Uselysses solution works perfectly! Thank you

I actually use Balanced most of the time, otherwise I'd go in debt with the power bill, plus why heat up the system for a little Forums browsing*Smile

I think all this option does over Maximum Performance, is, turn off Core Parking(C6 power state), that wasn't done efficiently on CPU's younger than Coffee Lake through Windows.

 

LOL, I'm on a laptop, so the power bill won't grow that much in my case. Not sure if those settings really do anything useful on a laptop though. Need to test this further.

All you need to do if you don't want it is turn off C6 in BIOS (if you can), in your C-States options.

To compare Maximum Performance to Ultimate Performance, you can un-hide the Park Control settings by opening an Admin Prompt and pasting these in(select all at once, copy, paste, then hit enter)

Now that I updated my system to RP ring powercfg -duplicatescheme e9a42b02-d5df-448d-aa00-03f14749eb61 worked great for me*Smile
