How to Add or Remove XPS Viewer app in Windows 10

The XPS Viewer app allows you to read, copy, print, sign, and set permissions for XPS documents.

Microsoft is version 1709 and earlier versions, the app is included in the installation image. If you have XPS Viewer and you update to Windows 10 version 1803, there's no action required. You'll still have XPS Viewer.

However, if you install clean install), you may need to install XPS Viewer. If you had XPS Viewer in Windows 10, version 1709, but manually removed it before updating, you'll need to manually reinstall it.

This tutorial will show you how to add (install) or remove (uninstall) the XPS Viewer app for all users in Windows 10.

*Warning You must be signed in as an administrator to add or remove XPS Viewer.

  2. XPS service viewer

    Hello Mondicke,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums. I am glad to assist you on this.

XPS viewer is a file format that Microsoft created to print content to a file very similar to PDF. Microsoft is retiring support for the file format and removing the XPS Viewer app on new installations. This means that if you're
doing an upgrade from Windows 10 built version 1709 (Fall Creators Update) to build 1803, you'll continue to have support for the format, but if you're setting up a new device, or do a clean installation, the XPS Viewer app will no longer be available.

To try using XPS service viewer, please follow the below mentioned steps:

    1. Open Settings.

    2. Click on Apps.

    3. Click on Apps & features.

    4. Under "Apps & features," click the Manage optional features link.

    5. Click the Add a feature button.

    6. Select XPS Viewer from the list.

    7. Click the Install button.

Kindly let us know if you need any further assistance with Windows. We are glad to assist you.

    Hope it helps.

How to add XPS Viewer in Windows 10

    Hi,

I am Ganesh Gandhi, an Independent Advisor, 18 years experienced windows guide. I am here to work with you on this problem.

    Kindly follow these steps.

    - Open the Settings app.

    - Go to Apps > Apps & features.

    - On the right, click on the link Manage optional features.

    - Click on the button Add a feature at the top of the next page.

    - Find the optional feature named XPS Viewer in the list under Add a feature.

If you install Windows 10, version 1803, on a new device (or as a clean installation), you may need to install XPS Viewer from Apps and Features in the Settings app or through Features on Demand. If you had XPS Viewer in Windows 10, version 1709, but manually
removed it before updating, you'll need to manually reinstall it.

Cannot Install XPS Viewer in Latest Windows 10 Build

    Hi jtg 151,

We're changing the way you get XPS Viewer. In Windows 10, version 1709 and earlier versions, the app is included in the installation image. If you have XPS Viewer and you update to Windows 10, version 1803, there's no action required. You'll still have XPS
    Viewer.

However, if you install Windows 10, version 1803, on a new device (or as a clean installation), you may need to install XPS Viewer from Apps and Features in the Settings app or through Features on Demand. If you had XPS Viewer in Windows 10, version 1709, but
manually removed it before updating, you'll need to manually reinstall it.

Since you have tried adding the XPS Viewer from the Apps and Features in the Settings app and through Features on Demand, I would suggest that you perform a repair upgrade using the latest Windows 10 ISO file. Performing a repair upgrade can repair broken operating
system files while preserving your personal files, settings and installed applications. You can follow the steps that was provided by
    Andre Da Costa in this
    Forum Article
    to perform a repair upgrade.

Should you need further assistance, don't hesitate to get back to us.
