The new drive is NOT replacing my other NVMe which windows 10 is on.
I just put it in it's socket and booted but it took ages to get to the uefi bios screen but then it just did nothing! the uefi bios screen stays up but i cant get into the bios and it won't continue to boot up windows.
I waited a good ten minutes but nothing!
I removed it and could boot into the Bios and into windows again.

Is this a bad drive? is there anything I need to do?

    advice appreciated.

    thanks

    :)

Adding second SSD to desktop as first SSD is full

Get a larger SSD then clone the one in the computer to the new larger SSD and then change drives,

    Amazon has 1TB for $100. 500GB for $90

A $12-15 sata to usb cable would be a quick, cheap solution.

    A $20 - 30 external drive housing would be a step up.

Either would be a workable solution IF you can live with the usb3.0 transfer rates ... you did say it was a temporary solution for data storage.

    PC Build Steps

Ok just because I like steps i am going to create some steps. Please give me the stamp of approval/disapproval
    • Install system in case
      • Remember to connect SSD and optical to same SATA ports on motherboard
    • Turn on PC
    • setup HDD
    • run blend test in prime95 for 30-60 min
      • run realtemp at the same time
    • While in Prime95 test
      • if CPU goes above 70c in RealTemp, I have a leaky CPU
      • if my system locks up or blue screens, there is an instability in the system somewhere
      • if my system does not lock up or blue screen, my CPU is not damaged and I am in the clear!
    What do you guys think??
