Windows 10: Adding a new user to a Work or School PC and logging in

Hi, I want to create a new "Admin" User on the Work Desktop that other people in my company can remote desktop to without logging into their own accounts on the desktop. Essentially a universal account shared by all when we need that extra bit of juice for processing. I know there is a lot of documentation on how to create a new user for a PC on Windows 10, which I was able to create no problem. What I am having issues with is logging in using the newly created User username and password. It says that I need a work or school username, but wont accept the new username and password I had just cr

I suggest you to try the below given methods and check if it works:

Method 1:

This issue may arise due to some file corruption, I suggest you to try running DISM tool and check if it works. To do so, refer the following steps:

• Open command prompt by pressing Windows key + X and selecting “Command prompt admin”.

• In command prompt, type the following commands and press Enter after each command:

DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Scanhealth

DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth

• Close the command prompt and restart the PC and check if it works.

Method 2:

I suggest you to try to create a new user account and check if you still face this issue in new user account. To create it perform the steps mentioned below.

• Press Windows key + X key and select
  Control Panel.
• Click on User accounts and Family Safety.
• Click on User Account and then click on Manage Accounts.
• Now click on Add a new user and follow the instructions.
• Sign out from the current User account and log-in using new User account and check if issue persist.

Can't sign in to the new added User Account in Windows 10

As a solution, we suggest that you try the methods below.

Method 1: Start your PC in safe mode and enable the built-in administrator. For steps on how to start your PC in safe mode, click
here.

For steps on how to enable the Built-in administrator, see below:

• Press the Windows key + X and then select Command Prompt (Admin).
• Type the following command and hit Enter:
• net user administrator /active: yes
• Log out of the current user account then try to log in to the enabled administrator account.

Note: Please follow the same steps mentioned above and type net user administrator /active: no to disable admin account after the troubleshooting is done.



Method 2: Check the status of User Profile Services.

Here are the steps:

• Press Windows key + R to open Run.
• Type services.msc, and then press Enter.
• Locate User Profile Service
• Right-click on it, and then Start the service.
• Set the Startup type to Automatic.
• Try to log back in.

Adding a new user to Windows 10

Recently I added a new user to my PC under WIn 10. When either user finishes and logs out, switch users, or lock mode when either user goes back in the login the password box will not accept any characters. So far the only work around is to restart.
I researched online and some had suggestions of various function keys in conjunction with the Fn key which my keyboard does not have.
