    Adding file permissions to a microsoft account


    I am using windows 11 pro and I am logged on to my Microsoft 365 account called msact1. I have a file on the windows 11 computer that was created by a local user luser1. I want to grant permission so that msact1 has read/write permission to the file.There is no way to add msact1 in the windows explorer file properties/security tab as the user is not found and in locations I am unable to connect to the AzureAD where my microsoft account is.

    PERMISSION to ACCESS or SAVE FILES

    Hi,

    Thank you for posting your query on Microsoft Community.

    I understand your inconvenience. We will assist you to resolve this issue.

    I would like to know if your computer is connected to a domain network.

    I suggest you to login with Microsoft account and check. If the issue still persist, follow the methods provided below and check if it helps.

    Method 1:

    • Open the properties of the main user profile folder where the files are located (such as Documents, Pictures, etc).
    • Go to the Security tab and click Advanced.
    • Check the box at the bottom of this window. It is labeled "Replace all child object permissions with inheritable permissions from this object" and then click Ok.

    If the issue still persist, I suggest you to follow the steps provided below and check if it helps.

    Method 2:

    • Press Windows logo key + R key.
    • Type Netplwiz.
    • Find the User account in which the issue persist.
    • Click Properties button.
    • Go to Group Membership Tab
    • Choose Administrator.
    • Click on Apply and Ok button.
    • Sign out and Sign in from the use account.

    Folder access permission lost after linking to microsoft account

    Thank you for posting you query in Microsoft Community.

    Regrets the inconvenience you have experienced.

    Are you concerned about file permissions?

    If so, I suggest to follow the below mentioned steps and check if it helps:

    • Open the properties of the main user profile folder where the files are located (such as Documents, Pictures, etc).
    • Go to the Security tab and click Advanced.
    • Check the box at the bottom of this window. It is labeled "Replace all child object permissions with inheritable permissions from this object" and then click Ok.
    This does a one-time action that replaces the security on all the files/subfolders. It’s one-time, so you won’t find that box checked if you peek at it later. Please let us know if it’s working

    I suggest you backup your personalized files first before removing the account.
    To delete an account, follow these steps:
    1. Press WIN + X keys and click Command Prompt (Admin) from the menu.
    2. Type the following command and press Enter. Replace test with the name of your sister's account. Code:
