Windows 10: Adding Microsoft account for apps makes me setup Windows Hello all over again.

Windows would not let me add a microsoft account without windows hello. I want to add one just for apps, but I do not want to setup windows hello, but I still want to keep windows hello for my current user, I do not want to add any new users, just an account.

We need your full cooperation to get this issue resolved for you.

Kindly double check all the accounts under Email, calendar, and contacts app in your
Account settings.

Follow these steps to go to your Account settings page:

• Press the Windows key to launch the Start menu.
• Type in Manage your Account and press Enter.

We need to make sure the Microsoft account you setup as login for your PC is the same Outlook account setup for the Email, calendar, contacts app in Windows 10. If there are other accounts currently added, kindly remove them first, restart your PC and add
it again.

If the suggestion above doesn't work, feel free to post back so we can further troubleshoot.

 

Cannot link/add my Microsoft Account to Local Account

Hello Ken,

Im using Win10 Build 1607 with all latest update.

I also run all related troubleshooters:

• Windows Update
• Store Apps (says i have to login in my microsoft account but thats the problem, i can't)
• Microsoft Accounts

No Problem found. Also the suggestions from Microsoft didnt helped.

 

Unable to setup Windows Hello, error: incorrect pin

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

May I know the complete error code or error message that you are receiving when you try to setup Windows Hello?

Do you have any other user account on the computer?

If yes, does Windows Hello work on that account?

If Windows Hello is not setup on other account, please setup it up and check if it works so that we can narrow down the issue for you.

I suggest to remove the pin and setup a new pin on the child account and check if it works with Windows Hello.

Please follow the steps below to remove and re-add the PIN:

• Press Windows logo key + I to open Settings.
  
• Select Accounts.
  
• Click on Sign-in options.
  
• Under PIN, remove the pin. There will be prompt to enter password, enter the password and removed the PIN.
  
• After the pin is removed, please click on
  Add to setup pin for the account.
  
• After setting up a new PIN, try to set up Windows Hello.
