    Hi,I'm trying to add a replacement word for "tge" to "the" by adding it to the custom dictionary, and almost every google search returns pages giving me instructions for MS Word. I'm referring to spelling in rich text format textboxes.I did manage to find the custom dictionary for the US language in:"C:\Users\<my name>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Spelling\en-US," and I added "tgethe" in the default.dic, default.acl and the default.excThen I went into the "C:\Users\<my name>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Spelling\en-LR" and added "tgethe" to 3 files in that folder.I do have "Check Spell

    Editing the auto correct dictionary in Windows 10

    It is possible, but it is not for the faint hearted and not really something the average user should attempt!

    It involves editing .dic files which can be done in Notepad or some third party software for editing Dictionary Files . . .

    In File Explorer, go to: %AppData%\Microsoft\Spelling\

    The editable files are:

    • default.dic (Added)
    • default.exc (Excluded)
    • default.acl (AutoCorrect)

    The files are UTF-16 LE plain text that must start with the appropriate Byte Order Mark (BOM)

    Each line contains a word (in the Added and Excluded word lists), or an autocorrect pair with the words separated by a vertical bar ("|") (in the AutoCorrect word list).

    Other .dic, .exc, and .acl files present in the directory will be detected by the spell checking service and added to the user word lists.

    These files are considered to be read-only and are not modified by the spell checking API.

    S40 and copying the T9 custom words

    I found out myself that the custom word list is indeed losing words rapidly. I don't know exactly how, but I confirmed that words written both 2 weeks ago and 2 days ago have vanished. The phone doesn't suggest the words even I'm 100% certain I have entered
    them.

    I don't see any correlation with word length or anything else; the disappearing seems to be random-like.

    If anyone has information about the limitations of the custom T9 word list, it'd be great.

    Alan,

    Word Options, Proofing, AutoCorrect Options, AutoCorrect tab
    and look through the Replace as you type list for the false correction entry.
