Windows 10: Additional user account status stuck at 'pending' on new laptop?

Setting up a new laptop, added my wife's existing microsoft account as a user, but her user account shows a status of 'pending' and there is not option for her to login as herself on the laptop. How do I get past the 'pending' user status and be able for her to show up to sign in as herself?

Let’s try simple troubleshooting steps and check if this helps. At first, I suggest you to check if any Windows update is pending. If any, install all the Windows update.

  Type update on the Windows search bar and select Check for update.

  Click on Windows update on the left pane and click on Check for update button.
  
• 
  It will automatically detect the Windows update. (If any pending).
  

Also, I suggest you to create a different user account and check if the issue remain the same.

Can't add new user to windows 10

• Have you installed all pending Windows updates?

I would suggest you to delete all the user account apart from the one which you are able to log in with Admin rights. Install all pending Windows and driver updates.
Updates are additions to software that can help prevent or fix problems, improve how your computer works, or enhance your computing experience. Follow the steps below to create new user account and check if that helps.

• Press “Windows Key + R".
• Type “netplwiz”.
• Click on Add and follow the onscreen instructions.

Am unable to create a new user. Accounts -> Add someone else to this PC options is not working to create a new account.

Do not worry we will help you with this issue.

Try few of the troubleshooting steps below and check if it helps.

I suggest you to sign out from the current user account, restart the computer, sign-in and check with the status of this issue. As this might be a temporary issue.

Follow the below steps to create a new user account:

• Press Windows + X keys from the keyboard, click on
  Control Panel.
• Select User Accounts, click on Manage another account.
• Select Add a new user in PC settings, click on
  Add someone else to this PC and follow onscreen instructions.
