Obviously, there isn't much room for A18U to grow anymore, but it still added almost 3% to its share over the month.

It is unlikely that April 2018 Update will reach the top level penetration of its predecessor — Fall Creators Update. Next month we are likely to see October 2018 Update in the mix and this means that it will start taking the market share from A18U before it reaches 92%+ share FCU enjoyed back in April.

Note: we don't have the data for the initial rollout of the first update to Windows 10 (1511, also known as Threshold 2). So it's a straight line from 0 to the first data point we have on August 22nd, 2016.

Surface Family

Surface Pro (2017) is now the second most popular Surface device in use. It moved swiftly past Surface Pro 3 over the month with more than 2% lead.

Surface Go has doubled its share since last month but this is not nearly enough to make an impressive dent in the overall chart.

AdDuplex Surface Go and Windows 10 Report for August 2018

Surface Go is out and we look at its performance in the marketplace. The usual Windows 10 OS version report is included as well.

Windows 10 OS Worldwide

April 2018 Update was already prevalent on the PCs last month. So, it's no surprise that it only gained a few extra percentage points this month.

As most of the eligible PCs are already running A18U, it's no surprise that the growth chart is no longer as steep as it was in the early months of this cycle.

Note: we don't have the data for the initial rollout of the first update to Windows 10 (1511, also known as Threshold 2). So it's a straight line from 0 to the first data point we have on August 22nd, 2016.

Surface Family

Surface Go has entered the market but it didn't make a huge splash in the Surface device lineup. At least not yet. It's in the second to last position with 1.24%, as of this report.

The latest Surface Pro, on the other hand, is quickly approaching parity with the breakout hit of the Surface family — Surface Pro 3. SP3 has probably started to show its age and is being replaced by newer machines as it lost more than 1.3% since last month.

AdDuplex Windows 10 Report for July 2018

As usual, we look at the Windows version update progress and take a snapshot of the Surface family of devices right before Surface Go enters the market.

Windows 10 OS Worldwide

As April 2018 Update has reached 3/4 of all PCs running Windows 10 last month, it was clear that the growth can only slow down. While that definitely happened, A18U still gained more than 6%.

The latest Surface Pro continues to gain momentum and has grown by about 4.7% since the last time we checked. It will be interesting to see if Surface Go manages to make a serious dent in this chart in the upcoming months.

April 2018 Update managed to reach 50% of Windows 10 PCs in just one month.

With 50% market share in just one month 1803 (aka April 2018 Update) is the fastest spreading Windows 10 update by far. It took Fall Creators Update twice as long to cross the 50% line, and Creators Update was under 50% for about 3 months.

April 2018 Update by OEM

1803 share by OEM varies quite heavily. MSI, Microsoft, and Dell (as usual) are leading the way, while Acer and Toshiba are notably behind the global average.

1803 by Surface Model

Newer Surface models are beating the global average, when it comes to April 2018, while older ones are lagging behind.

Surface Laptop is a notable exception with only 37.3%. Another thing to note, in previous releases, Surface Pro 3 was often behind the other Surface Pro models but in this case, it is leading the pack.
