Windows 10: Administrator account Password not working, how can i fix it?

I am trying to update from Windows 10 to Windows 11, and for that I want to convert MBR to GPT drive to switch BIOS to UEFI. But I am running into an issue. To access Command Prompt while my computer is off, I need to enter with an Administrator account. The only account on my machine is FF 12345, the same as my Microsoft account, but the password is not working. I have tried to reset the password multiple times, but it is yielding no progress. Is there some way to either create a new Admin account or recover the password witch I am starting to think is something I don't know? Help would be mu

HELP! The password for my administrator account is no longer working- or I've forgotten it. I do not have a password reset disk. After days of trying my "normal" passwords and variations, I'm ready to give up and just re-install Windows
10. BUT WAIT: I can't, because to create the media creation disk from the Microsoft website (long ago trashed the one I used the first time) I have to have the Administrator password to run the download. After selecting
the command prompt option, I was shown a list of available accounts (me Administrator) and asked to login. Since I apparently don't remember the password, I cannot get past that screen. In answer to your question, my admin account is Not a
Microsoft account.

I still have the local account, it Is a Microsoft account and is working fine. But that doesn't seem to offer any paths to fix this.

There is an active Administrator account on my computer (labeled me administrator) but again, the password I believe to be correct does not work.

I have posted this previously but the suggestion I received (basically, use shift reset to get to a command prompt and then….. the rest doesn’t matter because I can’t get to
the command prompt without being asked for an administrator password.
I replied to the suggested fix, but after 24 hours or hearing nothing, my stress level is getting even more elevation.

In summary- I can’t access the administrator account- and all proposed fixes (to this point) require access to the administrator account.

When it asks non-admin accounts for an admin password to authorise something, it routinely suggests the last admin account used. If you click on More choices, you will see a list of admin accounts and you can just select the one you now have access to. The next time the dialog appears it will suggest that as the admin account to use to give permission to proceed.



Once you have done this and seen it all working, you can either delete her old account [after having checked her user folders to make sure there is nothing there you need] or, assuming it is a local account not an MSAccount, just reset her password then put on a new one** so that the account is available as a spare admin.

Lost My Administrator Password

To which "this" are you referring?
- If you are following the tutorial Bree suggested in the very first reply to your question then what you need to do at each step is explained in detail. So which step are you at?
- If you are following a different procedure then state what it is and which step you are at. If, for example, you are trying to manually enable the Built-In Admin as suggested in post #11 then that account has no password.
