    Administrator and still need permission?

I'm utterly confused about the permissions needed. I am the sole user on my pc. Under accounts, is myself only as Admin and password protected...(that's another issue)...
I copied a folder from ThisPC/C/Games/Folder and tried to paste it in my E:/ drive, my dvd drive, but I keep getting 'You'll need to provide Administrator permission to copy to this folder"

I AM the admin. Since I can't do this I'm having to copy that folder to my network Public folder and then burn it to dvd using my laptop which is double the time taken.
I've googled Permissions but it's mind boggling because there are so many different problems and so many different solutions that I don't know which one to apply.

    :)

  2. Still locked out from administrator account and being asked to enter password by UAC to install software

Windows has no say in boot mode when you are operating from bootable media.

Are you the owner/Admin on this PC? If so in the future I would run as Admin account which is how Windows sets it up when you install it.

We are not allowed to help you crack a password, but you can try enabling the hidden Admin account to gain Admin control long enough to elevate your account or create a new Admin account to move into.

    https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/2969-enable...

Note that you will be prompted for password for any method of accessing the Command Prompt except from the booted installation media, which you can create from Media Creation Tool on another PC:

    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-10/m...

Insert media, boot it by powering up PC while pressing the BIOS Boot Menu Key:
    https://www.sysnative.com/forums/hardware-tutor...

Choose the boot device as a UEFI device if offered, then on second screen choose Repair Your Computer. If the media won't boot you may need to enter BIOS/UEFI Setup (pressing key given in chart in link above) to turn off Fast Boot or Fast Startup first.

If enabling Admin account fails or you want to save time, you can also Clean Install but this time set yourself up as Admin if this is your PC to avoid these problems. The install in this link is the gold standard which compiles the best possible install of
Windows which will stay that way as long as you stick with the tools and methods given:

    http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wiki...
There is also a step to rescue files first if needed.

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions and let us know how it goes. I'll keep working with you until this is resolved.

    Administrator and still need permission?

I get that as well, I just click OK. This is MS's way of protecting you from yourself.

    Administrator and still need permission?

To the OP: Doesn't it ask you to enter your admin credentials? It should be as simple as that.

When you get the dialog box saying "You'll need to provide Administrator permission to copy to this folder" what options are you given?
