Windows 10: Administrator issues when trimming videos, says I don't have permission to make changes to...

Just got a new monitor, and for some reason now I am having issues with clips. I use GeForce experience to record things, and then I go to trim it down. However after getting this monitor, I trimmed a clip and proceeded to hit "Save a Copy" and get the error "It looks like you don't have permissions to save changes to this file, try saving a copy instead." Very annoying considering it was working before this monitor. Not sure if its an administrative issue or what.

I uploaded a .mp4 file to my Windows 11 computer and I can play it by opening it in either Video or Photos but I would have to use Photos to edit (trim) it, but when I try it says I can't edit the file, and it also says I don't have permission to edit the file. Is there any other way to trim a video without buying a video editing app or program? Why does it have the trim option if I can't use it to trim my own video? Thanks for any help!

 

Photos app - trim a video - error

Hello,
I am trying to use the built-in Windows 10 Photos app to trim a video.
I have the video playing in the Photos app and click "Trim Video" at the top.
I move the sliders to select the start and end points.
I click "Save a copy" at top-right.
The app says "It looks as though you don't have permissions to save changes to this file. Try saving a copy instead."
Having just clicked "Save a copy", I am confused as to why this error message is appearing.
I've tried copying the .mp4 to my VIDEOS folder on C: drive with the same result.
Some research has suggested to run the Photos app as Administrator, but I can't figure out how to do that.
Any suggestions on how to trim a video would be appreciated!

permission to trim video clip

You may have to reset the permissions on that file, but it may be as simple as moving it to another folder. Is it located in C:\Users\YourUserName\Videos? If not, try moving it there and see if that helps.

Also, I recommend using Lossless Cut to trim videos.
