  2. Unable to access network storage

    Hi Pravin,

Network permission is one of the possible reasons why you can't access a drive within a network. To better assist you, we the answers to the following questions:

    • Are you working with computers connected to a domain?
    • Did you make any changes on your computer prior to the issue?

In the meantime, we suggest following the steps below to troubleshoot Shared Folders in Windows 10:

    • On the Cortana search box, type Troubleshoot
      and select the first result.
    • Scroll down and click on Shared Folders.
    • Click the Run the troubleshooter button.

We are looking forward to your response.

Windows 10 Access Denied - unable to gain administrator privileges

It is my son's computer. He is the administrator so he can log in. However the programs do not run and there is no access to any folders. When using command prompt it gives a system 5 error. It does not seem to recognize him as the administrator anymore even though in settings he is listed as the administrator. I am unable to use an elevated command prompt because access to this is denied.

how to get access as administrator

    Hi Abdul,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

An "Access Denied" error message can occur for one or more of the following reasons:

    • The folder ownership has changed.
    • You do not have the appropriate permissions.
    • The file is encrypted.

In your scenario, as you have mentioned that you have deleted the administrator account it’s not possible to make any changes to the system files and settings. Administrator privileges is required to make any changes on the device
with system files and settings. As you have already tried to enable hidden admin account from the command prompt from Windows recovery, the only option available is to perform the custom installation of Windows 10 from the installation media.

Note: It’s better to take the backup of Documents/Files on an external storage device before performing custom installation, so that you can recover data after the installation.

You may refer the suggestions from Andre
Da Costa, dated January 17, 2017
for the step by step procedure on how to perform custom installation.

    Hope it helps.
