  1. Administrator user not having write privileges to the folders installed by Postgres

We want to understand the behavior of permissions assigned to folders installed by an application for example take postgres.

    Note:

Both installations are done by "admin" user who is part of the "administrators" group.

The installation is done into "dbs" folder

    On Windows 1:

The admin user only has read privileges to the "dbs" folder. But the administrators have full privileges to the "dbs" folder. Eventhough "admin" is part of administrators group, somehow this user is not assigned full privileges. On Windows 2:

The admin user has write privileges to the "dbs" folder.

We want to understand why windows is assigning different privileges to the installation directory even though the user is part of the administrators group and why this behavior differs from one Windows to another even though both are running Windows 10.

    :)

  2. Postgres Folder In C:\Users ???

The folder C:\Users\postgres will be the profile folder for a user named "postgres".
But Postgres is a large database management package.

I don't know why a user of that name would be created by you.
Perhaps some software installation created it? I cannot know.

    Postgres Folder In C:\Users ???

I recently noticed this folder in my C:\Users folder named postgres.
I didn't find much about it when searching the web.
I was wondering what this might be associated with?

Here are a few screenshots I took.
Showing it's location and the folders therein.
