Adobe Bridge: cannot set as default in Settings Menu

    Hello

On my Windows 10 Pro installation I have set the following desktop applications as the default apps for various tasks:

Adobe Bridge: cannot set as default in Settings Menu [IMG]

When it comes to previewing pictures (.png, .jpg and all the others) I prefer to use Adobe Bridge. I have the Adobe CS6 suite installed, activated and fully updated in my system. I have uninstalled the Windows Photos App. When I go in the Settings and try to set the Adobe Bridge as my default application though, I do not see it anywhere and I do not see a way to set it, either:

    - How can I set the Adobe Bridge as my default application for previewing pictures?
    - How can I remove the Maps setting, because I have uninstalled the Maps App and I will never use it?

    Thank you.

Note: The Bridge works fine on my system. When I double-click a .png file, for example, it opens inside the Bridge. What I am asking is why I cannot set it as the default in that list of default Apps, in the Settings Menu, and how I can do this.

    :)

Issues with using Adobe Bridge CS6 on Windows 10.

    Original Title: Adobe Bridge CS6

Hi I cannot open or run Adobe Photoshop CS6 or Adobe Bridge CS6 Adobe Photoshop CS5 works fine but cannot open the bridge either. All three worked fine on Windows 7 but even in compatibility mode it will not open or run so does anyone have a workaround
    or solution.

    Many thanks.

    Andy.

I suggest you to follow the steps provided below and check if it helps.

    • Navigate to Start>Settings>System.
    • In the left navigation pane, click on Default.
    • In the right pane, scroll down and click on Set defaults by app.
    • In the set Default programs Window, check if you are able to select Adobe Bridge CS6 and select the same.

Adobe Bridge: cannot set as default in Settings Menu

    Wow... *Sad *Sad

To make Adobe Bridge appear in the Default Apps list in the Setting Menu, I had to MANUALLY associate file types!... *Sad

Adobe Bridge is actually a Photo Organizer, it is not designed for single image viewer so if you want to set it as default to open every time you double click a .jpg/.png. Bridge will open the whole folder containing the .jpg/.png that you selected. If this is what you want then try the followings:
    • Right click on the .jpg ->Open With->Choose another App
    • If Bridge is on the list. Hi-lite it and put a check mark on: "Always use this app to open .jpg file". If not go to step 3
    • If Bridge is not on the list scroll to the bottom then select then click on "More Apps"
    • If Bridge is still not on the list then scroll to bottom again and select "Look for another App on this PC"
    • Navigate to C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Bridge and select "Bridge.exe" ====>64bit
      Or: C:\Program Files (X86)\Adbode\Adobe Bridge and select "Bridge.exe" ====> 32bit
then put a check mark on "Always use this app to open .jpg file"
    • Do the same for .png file.

Thank you for your reply *Smile

I like to think of Adobe Bridge as an "asset manager", an asset being a picture, a .pdf file, a .psd file or an Illustrator file. Yesterday I've researched a bit about Photo (pre) Viewers, for a little time it's true, and the best I found was "Zoner Free Studio" or something like that, which offers its full potential only on its paid version. So, since I own the CS6 suite I thought to install it and use the Bridge. It might be an overkill for just previewing a screenshot, now and then, but I own it and I am going to use it for other things, too. *Smile

In my system it opens instantly and it takes no resources.

Regarding your suggestion, I have already tried it before posting here. Adobe Bridge does not appear in these lists. And it surprises me that Windows 10 show Adobe Illustrator as a suggestion for previewing photos! Anyway, I have managed to make it appear on the default Apps list in the Settings Menu by manually associating the .jpg and .png file type with it. This feature is found in the classic Control Panel. My discomfort is that there are many-many image file types. So, what? Will I have to manually associate ALL of them with the Bridge?!

Anyway, I didn't have much time to deal with this, but I hope that today I will find the solution.

    Thank you.

I'd like to report something else, too.

You can see the default Video Player I have set in the default Apps, in the screenshot of the 1st post.

Well, I've double-clicked on a .mov file and then on an .mkv file and instead of J. River Media Center opening right away and playing the files, Win 10 asked me with which App I would like to play these files, having Windows Media Player on top of the list! For both types I've selected my preferred program, J. River, and set it to always use it.

WHY did I have to do this, though?!
Isn't it enough to set my preferred Video Player in the Default Apps?
Do I have to set my preferred program every time I will open a video?!
