Windows 10: Adobe flash updates

You didn't miss anything.
Consider it as a blessing if you don't get the update.

 

tried a few times and no update but had it on main comp last night which is not on insider
just tried again and it has installed now and not asked for reboot

 

You might find that it will either start a reboot when you are not using it or when you close down then log on again
That is what all mine did shut them down and restarted and then did the updating computer bit.

 

As someone who is predominantly a Mac user I've been living in that mythical world where Adobe Flash is just about to go away for years and years and years. Back when Steve Jobs was alive and everyone who wasn't Steve Jobs thought he was kinda crazy and weird about Flash. And it's STILL alive and well.

Recently I uninstalled it on my PC and Mac and... within days... reinstalled Flash. Too many sites still use it. Typically it's some sort of news story and there's an embedded video... which requires flash.

If MS and Apple and Google are SICK of Flash -- they have to join hands and get more aggressive. Perhaps some sort of way that your browser won't go to a page with FLASH on it. Or they could pick on big sites with it -- one at a time. As in you go to ABCnews.com... and the browser produces an email address and a pre-written email asking that Flash be removed from the site.

 

It's three versions, you forgot the PPAPI which is used for Chromium and Opera browsers excluding Google Chrome which has the PPAPI version built in.

So is it just a Built-in feature??
Or a feature that Adobe Auto-updates??

 

Google Chrome will update on it's own and can't use the external PPAPI version even though it supports PPAPI plug-ins except this one. They've abandoned NPAPI plug-ins.

NPAPI is used by anything other than Internet Explorer and Edge which uses the ActiveX version which one can't install manually since Windows 10 as Microsoft did exactly what Google did, they decide when and what version of flash you can use.

and the ActiveX version works on all Windows for Internet Explorer except Windows 10.

 

Apparently there's another Flash update, (Version 20.0.0.270), on the way for Internet Explorer only.
