    Adobe Thumbnails in Windows Explorer?


    When will Microsoft and Adobe finally get together and solve the issue we have with Adobe image previews / thumbnail of Photoshop / Illustrator files not showing up in Windows Explorer? Why is this so difficult for Microsoft developers to achieve? Is this a competence issue? Or no one at Microsoft care?? When I post the issue at Adobe, they say it is a Microsoft issue? So when will Microsoft FINALLY SOLVE this issue? How many more support enquiries, feature requests do we have to post here before someone at MS finally listens. This is incredible annoying.Please post here if you are a MS devel

    Thumbnail support for Adobe Applications within Windows Explorer

    The OP doesn't want icons, they want to see thumbnails showing an image of the document contents for all the Adobe file types listed.

    There is an option in File Explorer that allows icons to change in thumbnail view in Windows 10. To enable thumbnail view, follow the steps below:

    • Press Windows + E to open File Explorer.
    • Click the View tab of File Explorer.
    • Click Options.
    • In the Folder Options, click the View tab.
    • Make sure that the Display file icon on thumbnails checkbox were enabled.
    Let us know if you can now view Adobe program icons.

    Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.



    We understand your concern. The PDF Shell component in Adobe Reader allows you to see the thumbnails of PDF documents in Windows explorer. However, it seems Preview and Thumbnails of PDF files are disabled. Please follow steps mentioned below to enable
    the same.



    1. Launch Adobe Reader.
    2. Click on Edit in the menu bar and choose
      Preferences.
    3. Highlight General under Categories.
    4. Check the box behind Enable PDF thumbnail previews in Windows Explorer.
