Windows 10: Advanced on-screen keyboard's Shift key sticking

I use a mouse with the advanced, on-screen keyboard, and sometimes the Shift key sticks highlighting both Shift keys. I then click on either Shift key and the Shift keys are un-highlighted, but they continue to act as if depressed. Everything I then type is capped, and when I press a number key, a grammar mark is inserted e.g., !, @, #. This also affects keystrokes pushed on the regular keyboard. I have to copy and paste commas and periods bc there's now no way to get them normally, unless I switch to the Basic on-screen keyboard just discovered.THE M... I was just trying to type "The mo

Both shift keys

Hello.
I have problem with Lenovo Idea Pad 100 laptop (OS: WIN10). After replacing HDD into SSD I faced a strange problem. Both Shifts of the keyboard doesn‘t work .
I have tried to:

• Check if sticky keys are off. They are off.
• Connect external keyboard via USB port. Shift keys on external keyboard works good.
• Check the keyboard on online tester which indicates pressed buttons. It can‘t indicate press of the shift
• Change several different input languages. The problem is on all of them.
• Reinstall keyboard driver
• Check if connection is OK. It is OK.
• Tried to run computer without screws (I have read in one forum that screws could touch the keyboard from the bottom and it wouldn‘t operate normal)

I believe that keyboard is not damaged because connector damage could cause just exact part of keyboard failure, while it is impossible to do physical damage for both shifts. Any solutions?

I understand your concern and would suggest you to try performing "Startup Repair" and check if that helps. Here is the steps:

• Press and hold Shift key and click on Restart
  from login screen.
• Click on Troubleshoot.
• Select Advanced Options.
• Select Startup Repair and follow the on screen instructions.
  

If the issue doesn't get resolved, use these steps:

• Try connecting to different video outputs on the PC. Sometimes a change in driver can cause the video to be sent:
  • To a different Adapter: from integrated graphics to a discrete card or vice versa.
    
  • To a different output: from HDMI to DVI, DisplayPort to VGA, or any other combination.
    
• Try to boot into Safe Mode with Networking.

• • Press and hold the shift key while clicking on Restart
    at the login Screen (Bottom right corner) > Troubleshoot>Advanced Options>Startup Settings>
    Restart >>Choose Enable Safe mode with networking.
    
    Check Device Manager and look for Display Adapters.
    

• • • If you see 2 items under Display Adapters, disable to integrated video card (e.g. Intel HD 4000 or AMD Radeon HD 4200) and restart. (try vice versa if it does not work)
      
    • If you see 1 item under Display Adapters, rollback the driver or uninstall the display adapter in Device Manager, and enable the option to delete driver software.
      

Check the PC or display adapter manufacturer’s site for an updated driver.
