PC Information - Multiple different OS on different disk partitions Arch Linux, Ubuntu, Fedora, Windows 7, Windows 10 Pro N, Windows 11 on an HDD, then software and games on another 3TB HDD. Some Windows files such as %appdata% and ProgramFiles have been symlinked to the 3tb drive, and some files have had the registry altered to download/read from the other drive due to a lack of space on the drive that has the OSs installed.Specs: AMD Ryzen 7 2700X Eight-Core Processor 3.70 GHz16.0 GB RAMNVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6GBIssue: Windows Store crashes on startup on Win 10 and 11, upon attempted repa

  3. Unable to install apps from Windows 10 Store

I'm unable to install / update / repair any app from Win10 Store.
I couldn't find any solutions, hence posting here.

This keeps happening despite repeatedly resetting Windows.
Once I reset my PC, Store seems to work for about 1~2 days and then starts showing the following error msg:

[Image of error msg while installing any app through Windows 10 Store]

    I followed what Microsoft suggested:

    1. reset Windows 10 Store app through cmd and gui [both failed *Advanced* Windows Store crashing on startup, and store-based apps unable to start on Win... :(]
    2. almost every link suggested by Google (windows 10 store not working - Google Suche)
    3. Also contacted Microsoft Support as a last resort, but to no avail.

Lastly, I thought this was because of my University's restrictions on Win 10 education; however, other PCs & laptops [with same version of OS] don't seem to have this problem.

It is able to update Windows apps like Microsoft Office 360 and other system apps distributed through Win10 Store.

Has anyone else faced this problem before in any dist. of Windows 10? Did you find any solutions?

    PC config details:

    • Alienware Aurora R7
    • Win10 Education V1809
    • Intel Core i7-8700K @3.70 GHz
    • 32 G installed RAM
    • Nvidia GTX 1080Ti

Microsoft is purging a lot of low quality apps from the Windows Store

"Microsoft is sending emails to some Windows Store developers informing them that their apps have been removed from the Store for violating its quality standards."

"Neowin reports that app developers have been receiving these emails over the past couple of days:

In its latest review of the Store, Microsoft is evaluating if the published apps are good enough to be listed in the Windows Store. This includes publicly available apps as well as private beta apps. Additionally, Microsoft is also asking developers to delete any promotional campaigns for their apps to prevent advertising charges. Similarly, app name reservations are also being nullified; which means that if your app is unpublished, there's no guarantee that you'll be able to republish it under the same name.

Officially, the policies for the Microsoft Store says that apps must have "distinct and informative metadata" and "provide a valuable and quality user experience". There are also some specific standards that must be in the apps, including having a name that is not similar to another app or device, along with offering a description that is accurate about its features and functions.

There have certainly been many Windows Store users who have complained over the years about the large number of apps published that are clones of other apps or ones that are simply poorly made. Hopefully, this new move by Microsoft will help to curb these issues, at least for now.
