Windows 10: Advantages of UEFI (Windows 10)?

I've been having some trouble with a clean install of Windows 10 done using the Bios route, and I'm considering doing a clean install on a brand new SSD to overcome any mistakes that I made the first time round, and I have two questions:

1) What are the advantages of performing the install as UEFI, as opposed to bios
2) How do I check if my motherboard supports UEFI\the correct version of UEFI (It's a Z87-HD3).

You needed to boot the media as a UEFI device to reinstall to the modern UEFI replacement for BIOS. Changing to Legacy mode will not take advantage of the greater security and more modern interface which supports mouse in the UEFI Setup.

Installing Windows

UEFI is a new replacement for BIOS. It requires booting the media as a UEFI device, clearing the drive if it isn't already formatted GPT which is the required formatting for UEFI.

Once can also install to Legacy BIOS on most UEFI Systems, but it's not taking advantage of UEFI's enhanced GUI, Security Features, mouse Support, and greater stability.

Uefi is better if you can do it for several main reasons:

1) you can have more than four primary partitions (handy when dual booting)

2) support for large drive over 2TB if used as OS drive

3) secure boot - reduces risk of some types of malware.

Re. mobo compatibility - check vendor site.
